The Naive Fan...

Growing up in the 80s, there were a couple of things that mislead me to believe that...

- When I was 5 or 6 I used to believe that Freddie was Tom Selleck, as Magnum was a popular TV series in the 80s.

- 'We Will Rock You' and 'We Are The Champions' were 80s songs.

- Before becoming a fan I thought that Freddie was one of those arrogant rock stars (like Sting or Bono) who think that the whole world turns around them.

- Up to the point where 'Bohemian Rhapsody' was re-released after Freddie's death, I never heard the song before. After watching the video I was surprised to find out that they once had long hair in the 70s. Which made me believe that they broke up at some point in the 70s, and they got back together after like 7 years in the 80s when they had short hair (except Brian of course).

- The intro to 'The Show Must Go On' was made of cellos, and not a synthesizer. Which made me wonder what member of Queen could play the cello... I thought it could possibly be Freddie.

- I also used to believe that all the songs on 'Made In Heaven' were new, and Freddie recorded all of them 1 year before dying of AIDS.

I thought that they had a choir.

I thought that Freddie sang on all songs. I thought it was amazing how he could change his voice as from fitting BohRap to Drowse, and from there to '39.

I thought it was QueenS not Queen. "Mom, did you hear about Queens?" "You mean Queen?" "Yes, Queens" etc... It didn't last long, and now I can't stand people saying Queens instead of Queen.

I thought BohRap's music video would be like a movie, and the storyline would follow the song.

I thought Freddie was straight for a while (not long, though).

I thought the follow up LP to 'The Game' would be better, that 'One Vision' and 'I Want It All' were going to be part of absolute killer albums to come, because of their quality and the tracks got such great airplay on the radio and MTV I just knew they would get the Queen name back into the minds of the American public.

Alas...

Don't hit me, but the first time I heard of Queen I thought it was an American group, not British.

My friend's sister told us that 2 of them were gay. We knew Freddie was and so my friend was trying to decide what other one was too. She was looking at pictures and stuff and she said: "The blonde one" Lol!

"I thought it was QueenS not Queen. "Mom, did you hear about Queens?" "You mean Queen?" "Yes, Queens" etc"

It's the same with me for Styx. Only my mom will say like THE Styx. Lol. anyways....

I was naive and respected most of Brian's opinions. And then came his comments in support of Michael Jackson..(Question: Brian, would you have let your son, at any time, sleep in the same bed with an adult male while you were in another room????)

....and now, there's this thing about 'parasites'.

Parasites? Damn, how many different 45 sleeves of IWTBF are there? Then there's GH#3, The Platinum Collection, Rocks, WWRY and its 295 different versions, and on and on goes on and on and on and on......

When I was getting into Queen I thought that Roger was John and John was Roger.

please dont laugh at me but when i first got into queen i got one of the greatest hits cds and saw a pic of freddie in it and i thought he was still alive (this was last year) i also heard from a friend that all of the members were gay except for roger so me and one of my friends stayed up all night trying to figure out whos who.

I respect his comments in support of Michael. There is this saying, dunno...innocent till proven guilty! Yes thats it. One of the most important sentences in history of human law. It has nothing to do with letting your son sleep in the same room as michael or not. Brightshopwindow, i wouldnt let my son sleep in your room, but that doesnt mean you're guilty of anything. Grow up. Brian is just not one who is easily persuaded to go on a witch-hunt. You gotta respect that.

i used to think that roger was a girl, because the first queen video i saw was the one for IWTBF, and i also used to think that they had a choir in Bo Rap. oh, and i thought that brian played drums because he look too calm to be a guitar player

When I heard a Queen song for the first time in my life (WATC) I though it was a girl singin, and that Roger was the girl singin' it. I had only seen one picture of them, a pic from Radio GA GA, where Roger actually looks a littlebit like a girl.

And when I saw the IWTBF video I remember wondering how the hell can that woman have a mustache...LOL
