I'm obviously jealous of you for having the book, but not jealous in a "why that !@#$%^& has this book and not me" sense, I'm jealous in a good way, and I'm glad you have it and I thank you for sharing your happiness with all of us.

I completely agree with YV.

"All this coming from someone who offered to drop his crumbs (Hyde Park) to the peasants?"
These are completely different situations. I offered it to people, unlike others who decide to brag about their treasured items and not offer them at all. So now you're saying there's something wrong with offering things freely? And who are you to call it crumbs? Are you just looking for a problem, as usual?
"You were the only one who thought that John's posts in the Silver Salmon thread were "bragging" and "arrogant"."
Because I was the only one who had the guts to do it. I know plenty of people who agree with me on this. Not all of my friends post at a Queen noticeboard, you know.
So you have no problem with someone saying, "here it is, but you can't have it" ?? That is called arrogance, and agreeing with such tactics would make you equally arrogant, because you would then do the same if you had similar material. Oh wait, you do! I asked you once if you could even tell me who had the QTV version of Hyde Park (never mind actually getting it), and you refused to tell me. So much for Queen fans helping other Queen fans, eh?
"Everybody else disagreed"
4 people on a forum are not "everybody".
"Sorry about the hijacking of your topic, Rien"
Don't take the fall for this... :) If you look back in the topic, it was Stuart who did it, not you.
And AC, don't automatically agree on a subject where you don't know both sides of the story. Outside of cd trading, anyone who agrees with the idea of bragging about their goods, but not sharing it with others, is a truly inconsiderate person. If I have a Rolls Royce, I'm not going to rub it in the face of someone who owns a Volvo.

Bob, I used to have a lot of respect for you but lately many of your messages have been written in a bad mood or at least they look like that. To me your posts look like you are a person eaten up with jealousy and bad feelings. This notice board should be a place to share the common interest we have in Queen music, it should be fun and we are no enemies, please don't forget that.
"I asked you once if you could even tell me who had the QTV version of Hyde Park (never mind actually getting it), and you refused to tell me. So much for Queen fans helping other Queen fans, eh?"
I did not "refuse" to tell you anything about Hyde Park, I just could not tell you. Only because you ask me I don't need to know the answer, in which way does that make me arrogant? I am not the yellow pages of Queen collections, so please don't blame me for not knowing anything you want to know. I am just as willing to help other fans as the next person, I don't need you to lecture me about that.

I have no jealousy, but we all get bad feelings now and again, don't we? I'd be a liar if I said I never felt unhappy about something! In terms of enemies, I don't think I can consider anyone here an enemy of mine. If they want to consider me their enemy, then that's their choice. I think people are forgetting that this is just a messageboard. I don't think our true personalities can be portrayed very well in just text. :)
As you may have seen on this board, there are certain topics that I am very passionate about, and I speak very freely in them. It's anyone's choice to read it or not to read it. I'm sorry if I come across as an angry person, but to tell the truth, I'm far from it. It's too bad you think differently of me now. I'm the same guy I've always been; perhaps I'm just a bit wiser now, as I'm getting older like the rest of us.
You may be disappointed in me, but I'm also disappointed in the way you were trying to justify your argument by saying that "everyone" here was against me. You also took an indirect pot-shot at Dark, and I know you're better than that.
"I did not "refuse" to tell you anything about Hyde Park, I just could not tell you. Only because you ask me I don't need to know the answer, in which way does that make me arrogant? I didn't call you the "yellow pages", did I? Those are your words. A major problem here at QZ is when people put words in other's mouths, just like that. I was blaming you because you came across as knowing the information, and refusing to give it. I'm sorry for misinterpreting what you said. But after years of trading, and talking to and hearing about people who keep secrets about their "special" recordings, can you blame me for taking it that way?
In the future, maybe you could say flat out that you don't have such information, as opposed to saying "I can't tell you", which comes across as hiding the information. Most people don't like it when people appear to be holding back information about recordings. If people don't want to trade a recording with everyone, then they shouldn't talk about it in front of everyone. I know this doesn't go for you YV, but there are several people who post here who know very well that I'm pointing my finger at them.

First off, congrats Rien, hope you enjoy the book and don't feel you can't share that sort of stuff here I find you posts very interesting.
Secondly, why is it every time I open a topic I seem to see Guitar Hero having an argument with someone?
All this copy paste stuff followed by a stinging reply does seem to be coming from someone rather angry with life.
Any chance we could see a little less venom and a little more calm debet in 2004?

And just to get things in perspective, out of the 37 replies to the topic, only ONE post - and therefore only ONE person - has accused Rien of being arrogant or boastful with his posting of this topic.
This 'issue' is purely BMW's creation, and therefore there shouldn't even be an issue here (although I recognise that the thrust of the thread changed somewhat on this page).

Yeah, I thought about posting a similar thread topic a week ago or more, if only to express my utter joy in getting a copy myself. Hard to keep it to oneself when it's a source of so much joy. But then I had second thoughts for exactly this reason. And as proof, the thrust of this thread immediately went from: "Gee, this is really cool, here's a couple details, but I could describe it in more detail for anyone interested" to "I'm blind with jealousy and think anyone who admits to buying it is arrogant."
The reason this zone board gets so boring is people immediately miss the point of sharing info and collaboration and begin bickering over semantics & the threads become 10% content and 90% personal attacks.
Whatever.

You can call it whatever you want, the whole purpose of forums is to debate.
"All this copy paste stuff followed by a stinging reply does seem to be coming from someone rather angry with life."
There is no way to capture a tone using text. I know Bob pretty well, and believe me, he's very nice. Just because he says what's on his mind without being afraid of criticism it doesn't mean he's an angry person.
By the way, I'm not taking any side in this, I just think you can't judge someone before you have talked to him (which I'm sure you haven't, Togg).

Well Guy, you took the words right out of my mouth. :)
And in that last post of mine, I've failed to find this apparent anger you speak of, Togg.
"And as proof, the thrust of this thread immediately went from: "Gee, this is really cool, here's a couple details, but I could describe it in more detail for anyone interested" to "I'm blind with jealousy and think anyone who admits to buying it is arrogant."
You have to keep in mind that there's a difference between things that are officially/easily available, and things that are impossible to get. If it's something that could easily be bought, then there's no reason to have hard feelings. But when someone brags about their rare song "X", and refuses to share it, that's when problems arise. I can hardly see someone getting jealous when they read a post about someone who picked up a 7" single of Radio Ga Ga. :)

The difference is that one (the rare item) is worthy of a topic start, and one (common issues) isn't. I'm sure many people (even yourself) wanted to know what it looked like, and that was what was offered in the New Topic post (without violating copyrights). THAT was the point. I don't blame Rien for celebrating the big fish he landed - after all, it's not his fault it's an expensive, limited edition. Now please get over it. Jealousy's not a pretty color on anyone.

GonnaUseMyPrisoners, I'm pretty sure the last few posts were not related to Rien's topic at all.

I'm too tired to defend anyone now, but I'll just say...this is an internet forum, folks. It's not real life.
