I think most of the ideas for improving are very useful, I agree with most of them. HTML tags, search function that would work properly, no html tags in usernames AND signatures, MP3 section together with a trading/selling section.
Moderating of the forum - YES. Nobody means censorship of vulgar words - who gives a fuck about that. But it's important to have at least ONE tool to be able to get rid of various idiots like charles bear.

I thought of some new ones which I don't think have been mentioned:
- no possibility to change a username. This would save a lot of confusion, because a lot of people are changing their name every week it seems.
- "My Active Topics" only display recent topics in which I've posted (easy to see if anyone responded)
- A PROPER FAQ which every new user who registers receives via e-mail so we don't have a "What are the eastereggs on GVH1" topic every week :-)
Damn, getting close to 2000 posts everyday and now we'll get a reset - lose my postcount again :(

It is absolutely imperative that when the board is reset, MexQueenFM starts on minus10000 posts.
That'll learn him. Mind you, he'll still be the leading postwhore come Christmas.

Well, I'm happy to volunteer to be a mod if we are going to have them. I've been knocking round here a long time. I don't think we need to moderate the posts and the language in them, we just need to have the ability to 'kick' members such as Ted (remember him?). As for the rest of the ideas, I like them but please don't allow too much HTML, I hate boards that are laden with photos and stuff (QOL ne1?).

Even the most crappy sites have more modern forums than Queenzone. QZ deserves a modern one too where people can have avatars (but limited in size so you don't get those huge ones like on QOL), make polls themselves easily and where topics can be made sticky (don't know if this is useful for QZ)... those kind of things. Basically a QOL-like forum would be nice but without all the graphic overload. You see these kind of forums everywhere, so they shouldn't be too hard to implement here.

I vote that we have a pHp board like this one:
http://www.badastronomy.com/phpBB/index.php

Indeed, avatars would be nice - but only a certain size (80x80 px or 100x100 px) and HTML indeed should be limited to just bold, italic and images (which should automatically resize when they're too big to fit in the table).
Also it shouldn't be allowed to have images in the footer of every message.

This board looks like QOL, Ian! I really hope this forum will never be like the QOL board with all these gimmicks. You open a message and you have about 6 nested boxes saying "user a wrote, user b wrote, user a wrote" etc and when you search for the actual message it's only 3 different smileys. What a waste of time.
I seem to remember that on the old board we could see the previous messages when we posted in a thread, that was a useful feature although I also got used to open a second window when I want to reply to a certain message.

To be honest, I'm not interested in the so-called "modern" boards (phpBB and others) which have 1 MB of source code. I prefer simple fast boards because all I want is to read a topic and post a reply.
Maybe introduction of "private messages" would be interesting but I don't know if many people would use it.
[edit] the order of messages is fucked up again - earlier Pim's post is below mine for example. This should be corrected :-)

Hmmm, revamping the site is a good plan, but I think that there are many things that should remain.
First of all I love the color settings and I love the idea of the links to chats, pictures and a forum.
Remember Queenzone was the first and still is the best Queen platform there is, and it might look a littebit old fashioned, but it works fine
I think that it should not be a site like Queenonline, with all the pictures aviators and so on and all the fonts and gadgets will only make a load and irritations
I should love to see at least that people are easier detected and warned for their posting behavior
What shall not be easy, because the freedom of speech here is a huge huge thing, please let it remain that way, even if we then have to take the annoying people as well with it. Maybe they should get a warning (not in public), and a time to behave before there can be taken action
I should say that there could be a nice link and promotion for the Queen hub as well, as a good alternative for the o so much missed mp3 section....
That are my 3 cents, I hope Richard is doing a good job like ever and I trust fully on him and his team

If you need some graphical help, I'm here :)

Also it's time for redoing the site in CSS so that we get rid of the
'FONT size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" color="#FFFFFF"' crap. The whole site could load much more quickly then.

When the forums been revamped, will our post counts reset?
inu-liger · Member since
Even though YV said there may be no need for MODs, I will post my argumentive report most likely, later today (I forgot to bring the CD-R with me to school that I burnt the report on)
And I approve of the DivX idea for the videos...even though honestly I prefer MPEG-2

You gotta love reading Darks posts, makes me chuckle everytime, it's a wonder he remembers to get up in the morning.
Anyway, no surprise to you all I'm sure but my vote would be for some form of MOD, just to keep a few numptys in line, but apart from that I think the site is pretty cool, the link to the Hub would be good but don't make the place too fussy.
