'79 leather cool "rock star" look...no ugly mustache. :) That thing seemed to age him 10-20 years....

I liked his macho look, I agree, I think he looked his best around the time of Wembley.

i once showed a female friend a picture of the Barcelona Freddie. Her immediate response was "cor - he s nice" Upon hearing that it was indeed Freddie, she was almost embarrassed by her earlier admission.

I think Freddie looked his best in the '70's with his long hair and heavy eyeliner. Yum!

I have to agree.

He probably looked at his best in one of his leather fetish costumes in some New York darkroom while asking people how big their c*ck was.
Sorry, I'm reading Peter Freestone's book. I'm not amused.

Freddie ALWAYS looked his best through every stage of his career, though during his last months I can't say because I never saw any pictures of him in print (thank God). A coworker of mine who was attending medical school in 1992 said she viewed a film in class about AIDS and there was a feature about Freddie Mercury. She said he had "enormous black spots -- Kaposi's Sarcoma" all over his face and that he looked "cadaverous". Has anyone heard or seen this? It's stuck in my mind all these years and I've researched medical college films but I've never come across something like this. I really would not care to view it because I've worked around endstage AIDS patients and, even though they are still alive, they're wasted away and in too much pain to imagine. Most are on morphine and sleeping away what's left of their lives. They are people, though, and they've been inspiring, so brave in the face of death, just like Freddie was. He was so amazing to have suffered so much and still functioned as a performer -- and a human being -- in those last months. I wish he hadn't succumbed to the illness -- when I see Magic Johnson (former basketball player) still alive after being HIV+ for 13-odd years, it makes me wonder...and makes me angry as well.

My favorite was the early days look the long hair gowns makeup. Outrageous... I thought it was wierd when Freddie cut his hair short and then the mustache... well love him just the same lol

Even though I hated the mustache, I liked it better around the time of Wembley because his outfit seemed to be more sophisticated and matched it. But the mustache with the leather red pants and '70s style clothing didn't seem to match IMHO....

I've never completely consciously thought about it in those terms, but I definitely agree with you.
