That was a different issue. I know more about the leaking of Hot Space demos than you do and I'm still angry that they got out because a couple of people got into troubles because of that.
You and I both know that it was always going to get out because of how the material was originally 'distributed'.
I was talking with Brian about something related - basically the more they suppress and hold back the box sets, the more recordings are going to leak out because there's money to be made from them.
I don't agree with it - I think the band should make the money. I would never let go of my Queen II or Jazz demos for the world.
IF you're getting stuff from Queen Productions (and it's theoretically possible because some people are), you very well know it's not possible to trade these things with anybody. If you offer Houston here in such an easy way, it pretty much sounds like a hoax to me.
Oh, c'mon Mr Scully - you and I know that the Houston concert and the demos are apples and pears. The Houston concert is virtually complete in its pirate form, and it has a lot less commercial value to QPL than the demos, etc.
Besides which, the trade I or Brian would want to make would be for mastertapes, not the Staying Power 12".

Think about this logically, Mr Scully.
Queen are on the record about searching for mastertapes. Brian has told me on numerous occasions that there is a desire to get their back catalogue out on DVD-A and the demos list is only about 90% complete (ask Greg for confirmation of that).
Where do you think would be the best place to advertise for these things?
A Led Zeppelin message board, an online sewing circle, a troupe of circus performers, or.....a message board with 1000s of Queen fans?

Well, I was speaking to Freddie Mercury the other day, and he says he'd like to recall his left testicle.

Fair point. But there are only about a dozen "big" collectors in the planet. Brian knows who they are. So why does he not contact direct?
After the fiasco with "Ibex", there is no way I would even present Queen with the "Backchat 12", let alone anything more valuable.
If Brian wants mastertapes - then he can get off his arse and use a telephone, after all the people he would receive such material from would only be to happy to please their idol.
If he is that clever, he can surely look up one's profile and use an e-mail address?

Let me give you an example Adam. Fairly recently, the BBC wiped all its master audio and video tapes. Among this loss were many video episodes of "Dr Who" and "Top Of The Pops", as well as many unique Beatles audio recordings. If it was not for ONE dedicated Beatles fan who recorded the broadcast on reel-to-reel tape, then this material would be lost forever.
Rather than thank the collector, the BBC wanted to sue for breach of copyright. Lesson to be learned - if you have any lost "Dr Who" masters - do NOT return to the BBC!
The same is true for some BBC radio sessions and the "Keep Yourself Alive" video master. The BBC wiped those, not Brian, you or I. Now, If I did have a broadcast standard version - would it not be polite for Brian to ask directly - rather than winge in a fan forum?

Now they are very valuable, is it fair for Disney to cry foul?

The Bellboy tape is so called because it was given as a tip to (surprisingly) a bell boy! His unused "Olympic Theme" was the property of Thames TV (who commisioned the piece) NOT Brian - this was LEGALLY auctioned so - if he wanted to bid - he could have done so.
My point is, these pieces are legal. Brian knows where they are. If he wants them, he can have them returned, but at the acceptable market value.
What is so unfair - and where is the criticism in that Adam? After all, it was Queen Productions who failed to return (or even acknowledge) the theft of Ibex, so it does not really inspired confidence does it?
