But they did originally record over the master tapes and therefore they were "lost" forever. Thakfully they still survive - but not due to the BBC.
For example; "The Freddie's Boy's AT The Beeb" bootleg, with the unreleased "Queen" BBC session - came from an Australian source. Thankfully, the BBC had sold a version to an Aussie affiliated station.
Years after the BBC erased their master, the Aussie's still held theirs. Yet, it was the BBC (not Queen or the Aussies) who wanted to drag the bootleggers into court.
You also know that "Queen II" was returned by a private collector.

From what I heard, the master tapes were actually found in BBC archives only recently (weeks/months ago max.), that's why Queen had to buy the sessions from you - because several years ago BBC denied having them. Same counts for Golders Green complete recording.

I'd prefer to keep the source secret. But I'm sure about it. In fact BBC came (not to me!) and said "we found some Queen tapes, can you have a look at them"? So I guess Queen Productions are now a bit angry if they had to pay you for your recordings off the radio :-)
