What's next for DVD-A?

This is good news. I had feared they had abandoned plans for any new DVD-As.

It's excellemt news- it's also one of my fav albums- can't wait to hear YOU TAKE MY BREATH AWAY in 5.1...!

Mmmm... ADATR should be a good one. Great news.
Then again, who knows how long it will take to finish the product and release it.

Well, I remember that ANATO was announced around this time of year. And it was completed and ready for the first quarter of the next.

Good news, indeed! Can't wait to hear the result. I'm a big fan of these dvd-a releases. Glad to see ADATR is next up. But to those who think that they'll release the entire catalogue on dvd-a... Yo...what?? I'd be surprised if they got past 5 releases.

Brian WAS talking about Queen2 over a year ago, but then Ken Stone died which put the mockers on that.

Last I heard, they were going to look at NOTW because that was also a big seller in the USA.

Excuse my ignorance, but who was Ken Stone, and why did his death put the mockers on QII? I was also hoping for QII, but ADATR is excellent news!

Mike Stone died, if that's who was meant. But I believe his biggest involvements were for A Day At The Races itself, and News Of The World, which both carried the "Produced by Queen, engineered by Mike Stone /(or) assisted by Mike Stone" notations.

So I don't think his absence has anything to do with the choice.. though he was involved with other albums too, and perhaps Queen II is so complex they wanted to have an original engineer involved.

But anyway, I'm happy about this. ADATR really is my favorite album though some of my favorite songs come from others. And hopefully by the time this is released, I'll have a way to play these things :-P

I just have standard DVD players and Dolby Digital 5.1. I think the best bet would be a stand-alone DTS decoder but I haven't seen many of those.

While News Of the World was looked at, it has definitely become the sob story of the lot because there are missing elements. Multi-tracks are missing, which is why they had to upmix Spread Your Wings into pseudo 5.1 for GVH1.

Re: DVD-A player, it might be worth looking at upgrading to a DVD Player with a DTS decoder (assuming you have a DTS capable amp), as you could then get the benefit from other movie DVDs with DTS.

For those like me on a tight budget I recommend the Panasonic S-75. it plays DVD-As and has a built in DTS decoder. It costs a mere £120. Its slim and looks great too! Never regretted buying it.

As a tight budgeter, I recommend Pioneer DV-575
Universal Player (plays SACD, DVD-A, DIVX and the usual standards).

Cost me 199 euro with postage ordered from Germany with a two week delivery to Finland for an out of stock item. (webstore alternate.de) That's 135.379 GBP or so. But check your local prices first.
