Well, first I'd say I'm impressed they did it. I never trusted Queen put officialy bootlegs on their site. My mistake - I was wrong.
But, after closer look to it, I found it's really nothing special. Definitely not soundboard, quality the same as it is on existing bootlegs. I could understand this, if it'd be for free. Well, maybe. But for 5 pounds ?
Hmm, I bought a few days before Yes CDs. Not bootlegs, but official studio CD's from 70's - remastered with bonuses (for example - on Tormato there are 9 bonuses, on Drama 10 bonuses - B-sides, unreleased or demo songs!- almost 80 min. music). Every CD is with enhanced booklet - some photos, some text about the CD and, of course, lyrics. All in all - extraordinary fine edition. And do you know what ? Every CD cost approx. 5 pounds too.
- Well, I know Yes are a little bit old and out of interest for a lot of people. But comparing it with QP offer ... For the same prize (5 pounds) I'm allowed to download audience recorded concert myself, with 128 kb MP3 quality (?), without artwork... Sorry, I'm long years Queen fan, but I'm not crazy.
I don't know what to say to this. And, as I wanna be decent, I'll rather shut up.

Btw PG, do you not think it's better to put your money in trusted (mostly) hands, rather than some unknown bootleggers? Trade fairs are great, but the illegal people are not who I'd be happy going to. Mainly because the bad folk use it to fund real crime.
The only positive points are that and the price. No matter what people say, it's still a lot cheaper than the ones I see at the fairs. Of course, if they get their finger out, they'll go one better and use the soundboards. But then, after reading Justin's notes on the work done for the MK dvd, it IS a lot to ask. Because they'd no doubt, want to remix it like MK, and it would take lots and lots of time.
And adding artwork? They'd have to sit and make up 100 covers, etc. And then, I'd bet, fans would get picky about that too! Just look at the thread about the MK dvd cover. Still a shame these bootlegs are mp3.
"Liquid Scream: Why wouldn't they have spent the time to mix the soundboards and put out worthwhile releases."
What do you think the dvd releases are? See how much time they can take to come to frution? At least we know they're trying to get some of these things out there.
DON'T expect soundboard downloads because it won't happen. And what I mean by that is that they'd want to spend the time on it to make it come out right. Like I said above, the mixing and editing would take years to cover the top 100. It's just not realistic.
And considering how riled up fans are about the musical and delaying the boxsets, is that really something you'd want delayed even more? Sure, some remixed stuff would be cool. But still, I'll hold out for the bigger ideas.

When I heard QP were going to do this, I thought brilliant...I can get my hands on some fantastic sounding concerts, and built up my catalogue. Well, I was wrong.
Last year I went to a Barenaked Ladies concert. Within 6 months, that concert was available to download (in whole) on their site. $15 got me 3 downloads of the concert (either chopped up into tracks, or one single track) and a .pdf of a CD cover and insert....They did'nt tweak or enhanced it, they just used the soundboard.... Performance mistakes and all. It's F'kn great!
I think QP have really missed the boat this time, and I think the results will tell the truth.
And plus, why would I buy a concert when I can get it for free.....

You don't see a licence to download mp3s at fairs. At fairs you buy audio CDs, mostly with a cover, case and often factory pressed. 5 GBP are not cheap for an mp3 download, believe me. I know people who buy from online bootleggers and they pay 5 USD per concert including shipping. I am not supporting the selling of bootlegs but QOL should at least have their facts correct when they enter the bootleg market.

I would prefer having only a couple of unreleased soundboards a year instead of 36 to 48 bootlegs a year most of which we have already.
This venture is nothing more than a time saving money grab!
You can't tell me they could only have time to prepare the Milton Keynes DVD and CD in one year.

i think it would have been good to make it a not-for-profit affair. Since the whole point was to out bootleg the bootleggers, making the releases as cheap as possible would make more sense.
So Brian complains about the WWRY DVD quality, right? And now they sell bootlegs. What a HYPOCRITE.
