Does anyone love Hot Space. It's questionably my favourite queen album. Why does everyone seem to hate it? Staying Power , Dancer and Backchat are all brilliant. OK, Body Language is crap but everything else on there is really good. It may be a little different from Queen's usual style, but I think each album is unique anyway.
It's a real boogie record for me, I know that sounds sad but it really does make you bounce when you are driving!
Its always been my favourite Queen album.

Im the founder member of the HSAS.
Chom own mudder fukker.
My second favourite -- Jazz is number one!
Love It!
Listen to it just about every weekend.
It's a great getting-ready-to-go-out album.
It gets the energy going.
You just can't beat the reasonably priced mosquito repellant OFF.
I also like it.
if it wasn't a queen album i'd said it's a shit

That's probably true for me, too. The thing about Queen was when they were good, they were great, but even when they weren't as good, they still had something going for them. The songs on Hot Space were more disco, but they still had the Queen signatures. And plus, most of the songs on Hot Space aren't that bad. Calling All Girls, Las Palabras De Amor, Life Is Real, Put Out The Fire, Cool Cat, etc. I can't warm up to Dancer, though. I think it's the lyrics that put me off of it. But all in all, Hot Space isn't a bad album.
Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.

Hot Space is one of those albums that grows on you over time. If you listen to it in its own right and don't compare it to previous releases then it's ok. Queen always moved with the times and I suppose it was natural to move into the "black funk" category after the success of "The Game" which appealed to a wider audience. Personally think that "staying power" done live is awesome and really shows how tight as a group Queen were (and are!).
A POSITIVE COMMENT MR REIN IF YOU'RE READING!! I'VE BEEN A FAN FOR OVER 20 YRS YOU'RE NOT THE ONLY SUPPOSED "EXPERT" & WE ALL HAVE OPINIONS!!!
At the time of release, I most certainly loved it & turned my friends on to it, by blasting it on my car stereo (captive audience!!!). God what a shit I was! (am?)

Though it should be said that I detested all the Deaky songs (as usual). Bland. Wimpy. Silly.

This album, above all others, suffers from the shittiest, most shallow, and amateurish lyrics from start to finish. Bummer, cuz some of the grooves are quite good.

Calling All Girls, on the other hand, I think is quite OVERRATED among fans these days, being one of the "normal-sounding", "non-disco" tracks on the record, but suffering from some REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE lyrics & half-baked vocal delivery. Freddie just couldn't sell the lyrics without cracking an embarrassed smile, they're so bad. Yes, I like the strummed guitar playing, but the song doesn't work. They should have left it for Roger's Strange Frontier record, or other release more easily forgotten.
...gonna use my prisoners, gonna give 'em the business...
i don't like calling all girls for that shitty sound that you hear...it's like a crack...d'u know whatta mean?

i loathe most of this album - used to like under pressure. then vanilla ice showed that U.P., just like the rest was incredibly dull, predictable and so formulaic....
the album is a pile of shite when compared to almost everything else they ever did

...but people - that's not the benchmark to measure it against....this is...

Personally I'd say if a band you could take or leave released Hot Space, would you buy it? I would think for most queen fans - the honest answer to this would have to be a resounding NO!
go deo na hÉireann The best QZ epoch: BG17-00 (Before Gerry 1996-2013)
yeah, let's say things as they are.hot space is good only because on the cover is written queen.

and the works is better but not so much.eighties were a bad time for musicians from 60s and 70s(just listen to r. stones records in teh 80s)

Hot Space is a wonderful album. I believe that many people say they don´t like it because many other people (who know nothing about music) say so. They should open their minds. Hot Space is great! Besides, it is Queen quality my friends!
Has grown on me a bit, but I still think it's their worst.

'Under Pressure', and 'Action This Day' are awesome though.
