Who Loves HOT SPACE

I love HOT SPACE. I've said it before and I will say it again. To me there is no such thing as a BAD Queen album! And their is No such thing as a BAD Queen song as far as I am concerned. If you have never meet a Complete Queen fan you have now w/Queenette. (and please NO Sort-of-Like haters posts to my reply, Thank you.) Cheers

I haven't got it. But I like Las Palabras De Amor, Under Pressure and Calling All Girls. I suppose it was let down because of Body Language.

I dont like all the album but i like some songs e.g.

1.Put Out The Fire
2.Back Chat
3.Under Pressure
4.Life Is Real (song for lennon)
5.Staying Power
6.Calling All Girls

Those are probably the only songs i really like on the Hot Space album apart for the exception of 5 songs i love it. I Like nearly every Queen album.

Don't mind it. Some good songs, 1 or 2 great songs, some awful songs except on stage (Staying Power). It's still my least fave album. Great title though!

my opinion about HS has always been that, for a Queen album it isn't good. It doesn't have the musical and lyrical depth and complexity as their other albums. And there is not really a flow throughout all the songs.

But, when I look at it as a disco album It's pretty good. I can't not dance when I listen to it (or the first 1/2 anyway). Back Chat and Staying Power are really good disco. IMO the only worthwhile non disco song is Life is Real, it is fabulous.


Side note: Many people have already mentioned how this album killed Queen in the US. This seems quite ironic b/c the most disco Queen song before HS was AOBTD and that was a HUGE hit in the US. It didn't matter what kind of music radio station you listened to they all played it. Then Queen release a largely disco album and it tanked.
Anyone else find this ironic??

I do love it! It's great. but queen 2 is imo their best record ever

I love Hot Space. It's definately in their top 5 albums, I think.

I think Hot Space is pretty good. Not my favorite, but pretty good. Songs like Under Pressure and Back Chat are great

No, because AOBTD used a largely pre-established bass line, for lack of better phrase, from Chic. Because of that familiarity, initially, it got played on Black stations & was a hit because it was something special. Hot Space was derivative, commercial, synthetic, and "White" sounding. Take away the groundswell of support by Black/Soul stations and what have you got? Limeys pushing synthetic disco down the throats of "Whities" in the US? No wonder it didn't work.

Hot space is definately the most underrated Queen album. Just because it features "non-traditional" queen songs doesnt make it a bad album. The fact that they can diversify their sound only makes it that much better. If anyone else had done it, it would have been shit.
