I have never really been bowled over by nu metal but Greendays new album has beaten me down with a stick. Im absolutely loving american idiot and boulevard.
Just wondering where everyone else stands with nu metal right now?
I
A big thumbs down. Although American Idiot does remind me of some people.

I hate nu metal... I heard american idiot, stopped for a second thinking, "Oh, that'ss clever." Shrugged and ignored it. I mean, its clever, thats all it really is. The "genre" just makes me shudder and turns the look on my face sour... which is probablyu why i dont listen to music from the western half of the planet much anymore.

Agreed. It's certainly good that there's an American band saying 'Wait a second. This country is a bit fucked in the head at the moment'. I'm sure there's more. I suffer from selective hearing though.

I wouldn't consider Green Day nu metal.
They've been around for more than 10 years now.

I've never really liked that kind of punk rock, like Green Day and Offspring, etc but I love their new album. I think they've grown a lot. Look at their last albums, look at Dookie, that's the ultimate fun punk album.

But hearing Billie Joe say that they're almost in the same league as The Clash and other legends makes me laugh out loud. They may be on the right way though but I don't believe they'll ever get that far.

heh, Greenday and Blink 182, ha. They're just good as The Clash, the Cure and The Ramones *Sarcas-o-Tron explodes*

Greenday isn't "nu metal" to begin with.

I prefer the term "unbearable rubbish" or "whiney crap" over "nu metal". I fail to hear the "metal" part in those bands.

Pma is right... Green Day is absolutely not NuMetal, but rather NuPunk.

NuMetal bands are those shitty ones that mix rap with metal, like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, or Korn.

An about American Idiot, it's one hell of a great album, without a doubt one of the best albums that have come out in 2004. To me the album is even better than 'Dookie', the album that launched then into stardom back in 1994.

As Sonja mentioned, Green Day is still on it's way to gain the status of bands like The Clash, and The Ramones.

But I know that those guys are far better than The Cure.

I didn't think they were any sort of metal but rather pop-punk. I think some of their music will be considered timeless one day and will be listened to even after 20 years or so.

What a bunch of sorry losers, these modern rockers.

I do have to say that I believe their quality of music has declined dramatically since the release of Dookie...

Nope! I think they'll be forgotten in about 20 years time... none of these newer bands will be listened to or spoken about in 20 years.
There are no legends anymore.
Robbie Williams may remain unforgettable in Europe but that's all really.
Bands like U2 and REM will be remembered.
Maybe Eminem as well.
But I can't think of anyone else...
well.. Britney! definitely. She won't be forgotten!

They all play too damn fast for me...It will never be considered metal...
Comprende muchacho.

There is no such thing as nu metal. All metal died at the turn of the decade, when we entered an era only known as "the 90's". Joy.
