STOP CATERGERISING! AAAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!

Why?
Creativity can always cover for a lack of knowledge.

They've been around for more than 10 years now.

I've never really liked that kind of punk rock, like Green Day and Offspring, etc but I love their new album. I think they've grown a lot. Look at their last albums, look at Dookie, that's the ultimate fun punk album.

But hearing Billie Joe say that they're almost in the same league as The Clash and other legends makes me laugh out loud. They may be on the right way though but I don't believe they'll ever get that far.

I couldn't agree more!

Greenday are good...who cares what they're categerised as? New album is great and their older stuff is good too. Thumbs up for me.

Well boo fucking hoo
:-)

Yeah, sorry guys. They call themselves numetal, but yes they are punky. this is kinda a avril lavinge dilema. She calls herself punk, I call her puke.

Well, metal is kind of broad, so I can see how some punk can categorize into it. There are many overlappings between genres.

Yeah, definitely. The word "rock" is the broadest term we have these days for music. It is the only genre where almost anything can be integrated or removed, and it can still be itself. You can't say the same for virtually every other genre, as they all have certain elements; without such elements, they would no longer be themselves.

Dance has the beat, punk has the power-chord guitar work, polka has the accordian, etc.

Green Day has prooved with their new album that their own their way to becoming a legend of punk music of the same level of 'The Clash' or 'The Ramones'.

Only time will tell if they will be able to hold up to the expectations.

"Novacaine," "Extraordinary Girl," and "Holiday" are great songs.

They've been around since 1989.

I love the CD! Really COOL!

I like American Idiot. I actually haven't heard that much else from Green Day, besides their big singles from awhile ago, but I had heard so much about this album that I decided to buy it. Boulevard Of Broken Dreams, Wake Me Up When September Ends and Are We The Waiting are my favorite tracks, but I like almost every song on the album.
Resistance is futile. You are now an orb.

Forgive me for ignoring your categorisation arguments...

Heard this album, haven't deleted it yet. I've heard a lot worse.

I can't stand New metal. I like Rock.

i'm not the kind of person that will automatically hate a band based on its music category...so...in those terms, i'm always up for good music and green day's new album is pretty rockin.

Yeah, it is actually OK, or at least some of the songs are. I like "American Idiot," "Holiday," and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams". The others are kind of OK.
