glam queen or eighties queen??

what style of queen does everyone like better, music, concerts, appearance, etc?

I like both, but for music, it would have to be the 70's, especially since there were almost double the albums released in the 80's. Also, the quality was more consistent on earlier albums, even though I love the 80's, too. For concerts, I think it just depends on the tour. The setlists were more varied in the 80's, though, since they obviously had more material to work with. As for appearances, both eras have their positives and negatives. :)

I appreciate all of Queen, but just like any other human, I have favorites and least favorites. Musically, I'd choose the 70's Queen over the 80's. I'm not a fan of synths, and their music seemed to be more genuine as far as composition goes. But that doesn't mean I hate their 80's stuff. Just not as big of fan. Appearance? Um....they could have buckets of shit dumped all over them *no pun intended* and I would still love their music.

I prefer thier seventies music and appearance more than the eighties. i'm not too keen on the synthesizers or electric drum kits on hot space. I like the later eighties better than the early eighties. best albums from eighties are...

1) The Miracle
2) A Kind Of Magic
3) Flash Gordon
4) The Works
5) Live Magic
6) The Game.

Appearence, I would have to go for the 80's.
Musically, I'm really split here, impossible to choose.
Concerts, well my favourite was the Crazy Tour.

MUSIC - Slight 70's advantage at the moment
CONCERTS - 80's (the bigger the better)
APPEARANCE - hard but i'm saying 80's at the moment, but likely to change depending on mood at the moment and for past month i've been in 70's mode

Well, I would have to say 70's Queen as well.. ALTHOUGH I saw them live in 1980 and Their concert was the greatest one I have seen.. The set list of that time showed that they were on TOP of their Game.. but as far as Album material, the 70s outshined the 80's stuff by a landslide.. OF COURSE I am not saying the stuff they did in the 80s was pure crap... I did enjoy their music... I DO enjoy their music..

I like Queen in every stage of their career! If they'd stayed 70s Queen they would have been dead boring and stuck in a time-warp. 80s Queen were Performing Queen, endless tours and changing images (again). Fun videos. Queen Gone Solo. Then End of Queen after the dawn of a new decade (the 90s); death of Freddie, flight of John into oblivion. And again change: Tribute Concert, Made In Heaven, more solo efforts. Cut to the Millennium: The Musical (changing images again!). Re-releases of old material and new DVD compilations. Fans still complaining after more than a decade: where's the tour and new material?
Queen (or Half Of) are still ever-changing. Can't wait to see what new projects lie ahead for the rest of the decade!

I think 70's was their best era. Their music generally seemed a lot better back then and I think the 70's was when Freddie was at his best with the lovely long hair etc.

My favorite queen is the seventies also, they seemed more raw and heavy. I love the eighties also, especially the game album. However for the longest time i absolutely HATED hot space, but as I am getting a little older, i have a new respect for them trying something a little different. No matter what Queen is the best...

I prefer "No Synthesizer", outrageous, flamboyant, extravagant, more theatrical Queen, that is '70s Queen, which was ditinguished from others and very Queenish.
But year by year, '80s Queen have been getting more attractive to me. Because year by year, I've felt their matured skill in their '80s. And I've also felt their spirit for changing not being still in their attempt to mix their peculiarity and pop music or black contemporary, which made me(us) sometimes confused,but amazed. Anyway they never made me bored. I always appreciate the way they challenged other directions.
I respect their huge power of '80s which attracted tens of thousands of people in the stadium. They already had such a peculiar power in the late '70s which was less than the one of '80s, of course...
After all, Queen are always Queen to me in many ways.
However, I prefer glam Queen...

SHA1980, Hot Space will grow on you. It gets better with each listen! When it first came out, I used to cringe when listening to it (a lot of my friends called it "power disco" or "Queendiscomania") but after listening to it a lot (and I mean a LOT), I could listen to it with no cringing whatsoever, in fact I like it tremendously now...but it took over 20 years to achieve that!!
