He told her he was gay.
I thought Freddie told her that he was bisexual?
Mary knew Freddie was gay when he begged her not to shave her legs.

ew.....shes at one with nature!!! no!!! no hippies!! i hate people who dont shave their legs...it scares me...*twitch*
Hmmm ... is the thing with shaving legs recorded somewhere? Or how do we know?
And then ... he never admitted publicly that he was gay. Did she mention it later in an interview or something like that? And even after that, he was bisexual anyway - i think he had lots of female lovers as well, didnt he? :)

She's a fuckin' whore.
i hope that was a joke - she was his lifelong friend and confidant....i don't think she fits any description of "whore" - explain your reasoning- for dissing the one person of any consistence throughout his career and the one person who Freedie always relied and trusted on

No ******* way is she a whore. She's a very pleasant shy lady and was genuinely in love with Freddie.....even though he was really gay. Had Freddie been straight, they would probably have got married and Freddie would probably be alive today. She adored children and as Freddie wouldn't be seen dead fathering a kid, she married someone else after leaving Freddie and has children herself. In case you didn't know pal, Mary was Brian girlfriend before she met Freddie!
I heard they broke up in late 79 80 and in Freddies last years (according to jim hutton) freddie was friends with her but not best friends as she led everyone else to believe, that and (again according to jim) she was a dumbass.
Freddie's own actions speak the loudest where Mary Austin is concerned. Jim and Feebie can say what they like, but Freddie left HER the house. It was his choice. And I don't blame Mary for moving in and making it her home. She was always there for Freddie no matter what, and he relied on her heavily. She deserved it.
gossips of late 70s :/
