Black Sabbath (Ozzy - Dio)
Deep Purple (Gillan - Hughes)

Black Sabbath you forgot Tony Martin
Deep Purple - you forgot David Coverdale

sorry to point that out :P:P

I also did not mention Joe Lynn Turner (Purple), Rod Evans (Purple) Ian Gillan (for Sabbath), Hughes (for Sabbath), Ray Gillan (Sabbath), Blaze Bayley (Maiden)... See, there are even more ;-)
I know, but I did not FORGET them! Just wanted to mention the ones that directly replaced a legendary figure and that immediately went on doing equally great stuff. (Personally I think Sabbath with Tony Martin was not as good as the Sabbs with Ozz and Dio, same as Puple with Turner (urgh!!!).
But you are right about Coverdale; should have named him along with Hughes.

Also Genesis started with Peter Gabriel(1967-75) and had a cult following in the US and were popular in the UK. Phil Collins reluctantly took over(1976-96) and eventually became one of the biggest bands in the world and 360'ed their sound as they didn't want to stick to prog as prog was dying a slow death so that is why the band changed its sound. Then Ray Wilson was singer #3 from 1996 to 1999 however Genesis still had Europe but lost America and called it a day.
Styx went from Dennis DeYoung to a jabroni named Larry Gowan and Styx(which only has one original member from the first album James Young left and Tommy Shaw was a second generation member) went from arenas/ampitheatres to performing at biker rallies and state fairs with pig contests.

Dickie,

Agree with every word you said mate. Problem with this forum some morons think THEY ARE going to see Queen. Let them delude themselves infact some are so blinkered I swear they expect Freddie to jump out onto the stage.

Good luck to the people who are going Enjoy the Brian and Roger + guests show but remember when you get back put on a good QUEEN DVD to remind yourrselves what the REAL QUEEN were all about.

I for one want Queen to be remembered AS THEY WERE not a cheapened version just because 2 ageing rockers are getting itchy feet to play live again. Just heard a rumour Queen (sorry Brian & Roger) want to work with G4 you would have thought they would have learnt there lesson after doing WWRY with Five.

RIP QUEEN November 1991.

It's a new Queen .. The original band will never come back, and when you say something like 'Queen died in 1991', you refer to THAT band.
But the band what's now called Queen, is a band with some incredible talented musicians, with 2 members of the original band, and playing songs of the original band. THAT'S it, and it's a lot of fun!

Please, don't compare this band to the original; this one is good, the old ons is awesome. Queen 'II' is a lot of fun and the closest thing to recapture some of the magic.

Face it; this IS today's Queen .. not the original band, but it is the line-up that is the new chapter of this band, and maybe the last.

OK THIS IS PISSING ME OFF YOU OLD AGED PISS HEADS!
1-IN MY OPINION THERE ARE TWO QUEEN BANDS , THE OLD QUEEN AND THE NEW QUEEN,
THE OLD QUEEN LASTED UP TILL 1991, THE NEW QUEEN THEN CAME IN TO PLAY, CONSTANLTY ROCKING ON WITH SOLO ALBUMS AND GOIN ON TO JOIN OTHER GREAT ARTISTS TO SHOW THE WORLD WHO THE GREATEST ROCK BAND ON EARTH WERE, AND SECONDLY BY PLAYIN AS QUEEN AT 46664 IN 2003 AND 2005, SO YOU TWO OLD FUCKERS JUST FUCK OFF AND LISTEN TO OLD QUEEN PLAY GREAT MUSIC, I AND MANY OTHERS HOWEVER WOULD LIKE TO LISTEN TO THE OLD QUEEN AND WHAT THE NEW QUEEN HAS IN STORE FOR US WHEN ON TOUR, SO DO US ALL A FAVOUR AND FUCK ON OFF FROM THIS SITE YOU OVER AGED BORING FUCKERS!
B
OH REALLY DO SHUT UP!
Well, don't watch the blasted shows and try to show a little bit of respect to those who want to see them playing live again.

That's all I wanted to say. Right now, I'm going to design a website which I do invite certain fans from here to visit. It's going to have a forum and it's gonna be called IHateQueenZone.com and I do invite the outraged fans to visit it and leave their opinions in there, so that no one reads them again!

Everyone who has a ticket - enjoy the show - because its gonna be a gas.

If you aint got tickets - like me - stay at home - get totally leathered - pay your kids £4.00 a time to burn 'burgers'for you in the kitchen - crank up the Garrard - and annoy the hell out of the neighbours.

I will be mostly playing Keep Yourself Alive / Good Lovin Gone Bad on Loop at 11..;-)
we are the deadlife

Hmm, TODAY'S QUEEN. I like that name and thought.
Yes, it was a worthwhile experience.

everthing else has been said. but just because its not the original dosn't make it sound crap. Have you listnend to them together? So we will go to the concert because there good songs and they will still be great
Is the real life?, Is this just fantasy?

Enjoy wallowing in the past. You'll eventually get tired of it and be sorry you missed out on the tour.

Remember the past. Live in the present. And say hello if you ever catch up with the rest of us. We'll try not to laugh when we say we told you so.
Blow it out your ass.

The past is better than the future in this case.

Queen 1973-91

or

Queen + anyone who will join them 1999 - present

hhhmmm tough choice.

Plus I did not try and get a ticket for the shows on principle. If they had named the tour as Brian/Roger + friends I would have gone. But I simply do not agree with them using the name Queen simple as that.

They should lay Queen to rest and create a new band with a new name. I sure John Deacon feels the same as well.

Bollocks!

I really feel like suicide after reading all this. Is there no other place on earth to pour your bad feelings about the new Queen than this blasted forum? When one goes and opens a new topic, there are some guidelines at the top of the page, but no one seems to read them. It says there that before you open your bloody topic, you should see if there are no other realted topics on the forum. And the truth is there have been blasted annoying topics like yours in the last five months that it makes me sick when I hear again that P. Rodgers is a terrible substitute for Fred, that this is a sad comeback, that they shouldn't use the name Queen and things like that. Stop it! You've said it all before, don't say it again. If you don't want to see them now, then don't buy your ticket, turn off the pc when they webcast it and go on living in the past. After all, the last release they had before Freddie died says it all. Remember that song? It was called... well, it was called The Show Must Go On.
