Hey eggy!
Did you make the 11:33 from St Pancras?
I did - really chuffed!

The point of this tour shouldn't be IMHO to repeat 1986's tour. There are so many live with The Works and a kind of magic. This tour is definitely for fans so they should play stuff fans do not usually hear from them, such as It's Late, Breakthrough, Don't try suicide and so on. Why to play again and again CLTCL, IWTBF, RadioGaGa and so on...Why don't they play stuff Freddie didn't use to sing? Because whoever sings will not sing like Freddie with Queen so better sing stuff we didn't hear before on Stage, such as All Dead from BM...Just a few thoughts.
Are you mad? Don't Try Suicide isnt a live song. They play CLTCL and Ga Ga and stuff because they are the big hits everyone (except you) want to see and they work live. The Ga Ga chorus with the hands and stuff is perfect. CLTCL works perfectly live too. All Dead All Dead is a very quiet song not suited to live rock concerts IMO. I want to hear Break Free. I want to shout We Will We Will Rock You with everyone in the audience. I want to clap my hands along with Roger in Ga Ga. I want all the glory I could never have when Freddie was alive because I was too young.
THanx for all those reviews and piccies. Just ordered more tickets for further concerts =). My question: Was the show longer than 2.5 hours?
Also, during BoRhap: Did the band 'Vanish' during the first part and only re-entered for the hard par?

Certainly did! Even had time to run and get a drink from Kings Cross! Managed to avoid H&H when I got home. That's something of a miracle for me - but one lot of greasy chicken in a day is more than enough for my stomach.
There weren't many people coming back from the gigs last night which surprised me.

Great to read all the positive reviews and can't wait for Cardiff.
with regards to the opening. I can't help thinking that the rather subdued start may be because, as Brian said, a lot of the light rig and staging had to be left behind because of the size restrictions of the venue.
I'm sure that there will be a spectacular opening planned at the larger venues with the full rig in use.

Everyone knows I feel about this tour.
A reviewer up above said exactly how I feel.
All of us Queen fans agree that while we understand that Roger and Brian are not vocally in the same league as Freddie, we all like their voices.
So I ask the question... did Paul Rodgers really need to be there?
I honestly feel that Brian and Roger could handle all vocal duties, and us fans would appreciate them giving Freddie numbers their best shot.
Like I've stated before, I've seen Paul Rodgers twice, and he just doesn't do anything for me in a live setting. When it comes to his songs, his studio versions are great....as he was born to sing "Can't get enough of your love" and "Feel like makin love".
When it comes to live performances, give me a Freddie Mercury or Angus Young any day of the week.
I, myself, prefer Roger Taylor's voice to Paul Rodgers....
And Brian, when he wants to, sounds alot like Freddie, just with less power.
I feel that Brian, John, and Roger...with maybe some assistance from Spike would have been a perfect tour for 2005.
I give PR a A++ for effort and risk.
I just can't accept him in front of Queen though.
I do wish them all the best of health and luck, and I hope they are enjoying themselves.

The positives for me were Paul's performance - I really liked his voice and it seemed to fit the Queen songs. He looks well for 56 and and was very smiley - my friend wondered if it was because he was drunk?
I hadn't realised I knew a couple of Bad Compnay songs and I enjoyed them.
Roger particularly giving it so much! A few people said they thought he was going to have a heart attack!
Highlights for me were 39/Love of my Life and I'm in Love with My Car.
Also meeting two nice girls before the gig - hope you got home safely Nat and Rian!
Isn't Love of my Life an amazing song? The live version must be one of the best-loved Queen tracks, yet it had evolved so much from the original album version. Listening to it brought it back to me just how versatile Queen were. I stopped singing for a few lines and just listened to everyone else. Brought a tear to my eye.
On the downside:
2 hours waiting after we got in including 20 minutes of 'Track 13'. I was wondering if there was a technical problem and the gig was going to be cancelled.
The whole thing being 'disjointed'. It kept feeling like the gig was stopping and starting.
The 'two-tier' system where Brian, Roger and Paul were in the spotlight and free to roam while the other three dressed in black and seemed to be under orders not to stray from behind their monitors. It didn't happen very often. The left hand side of the stage was in near-permanent gloom while the right was floodlit.
Worst was Bohemian Rhapsody with the video of Freddie singing. I thought they over all that, but I guess not. Flashing up images of John too. Jesus.
Same for Days of our Lives. I didn't like the video and thought Roger used to do this better on his solos tours.
Video clip from We Will Rock You shown during Radio Gaga!!!
I didn't buy any merchandise, but the tour logo seems to be the Smirnoff eagle - I hope they don't get sued! Having said that, from some angles it looked like a chicken.
Brian's guitar solo - but I've never liked that. Why not just play anopther song with a great solo lkiem You Dobn't Fool Me.
Paul constantly being usurped as front man. He's the lead singer at Brian and Roger's invitation, therefore he should sing more, for example I Want It All, and Brian and Roger simply need to shut up more.
I Want It All was sung by Brian while standing on the right of the stage - leaving the centre of the stage empty.
Overall I thought there was nothing there that they couldn't have done without Paul.
Let's hope that they can iron some of these things out as the tour progresses - Basel and Birmingham to come!

I thought the bohemian rhapsody tribute was brilliant- it felt like such a mark of respect to the man and there was nothing cheesy about it.
As a whole I thought it was an absolutely wonderful gig of the kind you don't see to often these days- I would very rarely be happy listening to a two hour plus set but this one went by like lightning.
It made you realize just how missed freddie actually is but considering circumstances It was just the right thing to do and great fun- PR was excellent, particularly during all right now wich went down a storm.
I thought the problem was not so much the fact that they used backing drums in GAGA but that said backing drums were just rather rubbish and didn't seem to groove terribly well.

The begining started with looped drums from keyboard and it pretty much sounded like karaoke version. But later... Danny's bass was particularly great, as the weird keyboard sounds after first chorus were played on bass- sounded AWESOME. After second verse (was after second verse or chorus?) Roger ran behind his drum kit and started playing real drums at which point paul Rodgers was already singing choruses and Brian was playing (nicely) solo using slide. Sounded really well, even if it's faaaaaaar from being my fav track. And the fake-drum... Dunno- I didn't really mind THAT much.... Well, maybe a bit- I actually thought it's gonna be worse...
ah ok, so it sounded really good,...

I looked on the internet yesterday morning and saw a ticket on sale for £55. I checked the trains and could have been in Lonbdon for 3.15pm. I also checked the flights from London back to Blackpool this morning and could have still made it for work at 10am this morning. I was that close to coming. But I wasn't too sure of the ticket being valid and I didn't fancy staying at Stansted Airport overnight.
But I was very, very close to going. I'll have to wait for Birmingham and Hyde Park I suppose.

I was at the Brixton gig and I think Paul must have been having a few problems with his voice.
When Brian started his guitar solo he said something along the lines of 'it's a bit early for this but here goes' making me think that something had happend to mean there had to be a change to the planned set list.
Then for I Want It All he said something like 'You've got the reserve singer for this but I wrote it so should know it' indicating that Paul should have been singing it but for some reason wasn't able to.
The songs Paul did sing were great but maybe his voice is not at full strength and currently he is not able to cope with the style / demands of the full set ?

makes sense
All of this sounds so awesome - I wish I could be there!!!!!! Just here in Texas eagerly awaiting news that this tour will be coming to the USA. It sounds much respect was given to Freddie -rightly so. I bet there were alot of tears watching Brian sitting next to that empty stool while performing LOML.....I want to cry just thinking about it! :-(
