As all of us Queen fans are concern, Queen to us is the greatest band ever. But f course we know that In reality The Beatles are the greatest band in history. So my question is, not taking Queen as our favorite band in the world but approaching it in a serious form, is Queen the second greatest band of all time?
I dont know if this has been posted before, and if it has I apologise.

I personally really dontlike The Beatles. I know they were revolutionaries in the music world blah blah blah jadah jadah jadah, but i really dont think theyre that great, but since everyone says theyre in a class of there own this is how I see it:
1)The Beatles
2)Queen
3)Led Zeppelin
4)Pink Floyd
5)Rolling Stones or The Who

I think the Beatles are overrated...i really can't listen to an entire Beatles cd really...believe me i tried. Sure i respect them, nothing more nothing less.
Queen are the band I know most about, and I like them 100 times as much as ANY other band. The other bands I just like the music of are:
Dire Straits
UB40
The Beatles
(see my profile for more)
But these are nothing compared to Queen to me. I personally only own Queen albums, and will perhaps buy some other albums when I have more money, but I'm not particuarly bothered.
Whether The Beatles are the greatest band or not is just opinion. I think it terms of recognition The Beatles win, but I still love Queen a whole lot more than them.

I've never understood the appeal of The Beatles. I think George Harrison's solo stuff alone runs circles around their material. The playing and singing on most Beatles stuff is average at best and the lyrics are often laughable. I remember reading on someone's site a tag line "The Beatles were first, but Queen were the Best".
Lets face it folkies... it's personal opinion, no one is ever gonna agree on this! ;-)
Yeah, there are some songs of the Beatles that aren't that great. I know I never listen to several songs on the White Album. And their albums inbetween Please, Please Me and A Hard Day's Night are simliar, and not that all that inspiring. The second half of Abbey Road (my favorite album) can be seen as stupid/weird/pointless (I must add that the first half without a doubt rocks! "I Want You", you can't play that one loud enough). And the movie Magical Mystery Tour is very, very odd. But we all make mistakes. Has ANY artist ANYWHERE ever done EVERYTHING so that EVERYONE thinks it's genius? No. There's no way that would happpen. Every artist has some discrepency against them that they make in the first place.
Personally, I am a Queen fan who converted from being a Beatle fan. Well, actually, it was four years off the Beatles (with general stuff, I'd listen to most anything that wasn't country or modern), before I got into Queen. So, the Beatles are a good band. Queen is great. But they are so for different reasons. Beatles had great songs, were pioneers and WERE revolutionary. Queen had great songs, were fantasic performers, and also were finding new things to do in music.
You are ignoring so much if you say "the Beatles were absoultely not revolutionary". That's a load of bullocks. You're ignoring Sgt. Pepper, the first album of its kind. The best selling album I might add til Saturday Night Fever's soundtrack came along (enter the seedlings of crappy pop influence). Nor can you ignore the White Album.
They also influenced so many musical artists to come after them. If I remember correctly, there's this one band ... also four guys ... who were influenced by the Beatles. Who were they, I just can't remember? :P
How can something you all admire so much grow from something as "horrible" as you make it seem to be?
They had a good message/vibe about them too. "All you need is love".
Then again, we're all entitled to an opinion, and some will refuse to listen/read/comprehend what others say so they will still see the world/their world the way they like. You can disagree with another's opinion, so long as you consider it as well. Otherwise, you're just being an ignorant ass.
I'm sure there are some people out there who will argue with anyone til their last breathing day that either Frank Sinatra, The Doors, Barry Manilow, Mozart,Led Zepplen, Beethoven, N*SYNC, Talking Heads, Def Leppard (that one's for you, Lep ;)), Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass, Perry Como, Bing Crosby, William Shatner, Iron Butterfly, Aretha Franklin, Green Day, Billy Holiday, The Kinks, Buddy Holly, Elvis or WHOEVER will be the ulimate artist/band/singer of ALL TIME.
So really it's a mute point. This post will end up being everyone's opinion on what is good, and what is not. And no one will merge. Or at least they won't post if they have. That'd be embarrassing. :)

My point exactly, however you seemed to express it in a few more words than i did ;)

If we were thinking that way, we would be on some "beatleszone.com" forum.
The Beatles were 4 ugly guys with 4 good songs.

I dont like The Beatles, as many Queen fans in here dont, but no matter what they are the best band in history. Selling over 1 billion records is pretty hard to do, and I guess thats what many people base the beatles on when it comes to ranking them the best band ever.
Oh yeah. The Beatles suck big time. Definitely. Can't stand 'em. *cough*
Yeah, The Beatles certainly didn't revolutionize anything - only the way that most rock bands approached recording in the studio - and they certainly didn't influence virtually every rock band that ever existed.
Ignorance certainly is bliss, eh?

Exactly.
The Beatles didn't invent rock music; it was stolen from black people by white people.
In the 20th century, the only musical genre invented by whites is electro music (Kraftwerk).
Hey, Guess what Beatles will always be NUMBER 1 deal with it and you know what queen is right next to them now you guys are really ignorant and some stupid i would suspect this from newbies even Brian Roger and hmmm FREDDIE said the Beatles are the best I love Queen and The Beatles and they did revolutionize music okay bye Sgt. Pepper, White Album, Revolver hear them Enjoy and shove them in you ignorant asses
