In musical aspects Freddie was definitely influenced by the Beatles. Reportedly he composed Real Life tryng to make a Day In The Life sort of track. Real Life was the basis for My Fairy King, Black Queen and Lap Of The Gods (not revisited), which lead to Bo Rhap later on. As the Oxford lads pointed out, the beginning of the operatic bit is indeed quite similar to "woke up fell out of bed...", but imo it's more similar in music than lyrics: the four-per-bar piano vamping over the (major) tonic chord during two measures, the abrupt arrangement simplification. Fred only missed the alarm clock...
Paul's clever approach in making parallel modulations (or relatives of that, like C>A) could have at least indirectly influenced Brian. In production aspects the Fab Four were Queen's Bible, and John's style of writing definitely had an influence in Roger.
I think Roger is a fairly underrated lyricist, sometimes it seems he wrote just to give him or Freddie something to sing, but some of his lyrics were dog's bollocks (Foreign Sand, Days Of Our Lives, Happiness). IMO he could have been an elite English poet if he had wanted to, but the world would have missed his voice.

That's actually a really good analysis. I really don't think it should surprise anyone that Queen were influenced by the Beatles, considering they were a British band who were forming their love of rock music around the time the Beatles were at their prime, and considering that it's difficult *not* to be inspired by the Beatles if you've listened seriously to them. I think if anyone wants to draw one big similarity between the two bands it should be their enormous creativity, their willingness to experiment with their music, and their use of rock music as a form of true art and literature rather than just a chance to get sex and money.

i can assure you that the beatles did more than their fair share of pulling etc i believe john lennon's record was 7 women in one night, which is rather impressive whichever way you look at it

Oh I know they got plenty of, ahem, "attention" out of the business, but my point was they didn't just slap some random noise down like a lot of poorer quality bands who just want to be "rock stars". Both bands really put effort into their music and truly wanted it to be good. There are plenty of bands who are in the business JUST for the nookie and don't actually care if they put out poor quality music as long as it sells.
I think there had been at least two turning points prior to Jazz: Sheer Heart Attack and News Of The World.

Both their lead singers are dead (two of the greatest singers EVER!)
I can hear some Beatle influences in Queen songs. I think Brian's voice on All Dead All Dead, is quite similar to Paul's, as is the very beautiful piano pattern. Play The Game is also quite Beatlesque, with it's relaxed tempo and intricate melodies. Besides those, In Only Seven Days is vaguely influenced by the fab four, particualarly in the romantic lyrics and acoustic feel. Queen were never guilty of plaguerising though. They took influences and made them theirs.
