Is there any source that has statistics on how many tickets have already been sold for the upcoming Open airs ? Normally you just get the numbers only on the day of the concert, but I would be really interested in knowing how the ticket sales are going. Any ideas ?

Hyde Park is not going to sell out. Still plenty of tickets available according to a friend of mine who's just got his tickets (soon to be ex friend as I know consider him a traitor!!)
I would guess 50,000 of the 80,000 have been sold

There are still two amazingly well-talented musicians here by the names of Brian May and Roger Taylor, still willing, and wanting to perform to audiences that still love them...
What is so wrong with them forming with a talented singer to go on tour and give many Queen fans, including me, a chance they thought they would never see - to go and see this band perform live?
I went to the Sheffield gig, and I can honestly say I have never experienced anything quite like it...
If you were such a die-hard Queen fan, then you would respect the remaining band member's wishes, and support them in their continuance to play first-class, top quality music to the fans that truly love and respect them.

It's like banging your head against a brick wall. You did not see Queen you saw Brian and Roger + Paul Rodgers. The only reason they are keeping the Queen name is to make money There is nothing Queen about it. 2 former members are missing from the line up. Brian and Roger lost my respect by doing this tour under Queen and conning fans. Like I've said before the best thing there could have done was to create a new band or advertise themselves asd something else.
Both Roger and Brian have been two faced about this whole thing. IT WAS THEY back in 1991 that said Queen cannot continue without Freddie. What has changed 14 years on ? The simple fact is they would sell more tickets to people like you who are fooled into thinking your seeing a reincarnation of the original band.
Brian and Roger cannot win either way...
If they had formed a new band, and played an array of Queen songs through the majority of the concert, people like you would accuse them of not using material of their own and trying to imitate Queen's image.

At the end of the day Sir, at the concert I witnessed, there was Brian May's unique guitar quality and sound present, there was Roger Taylor's amazing drum skills present, and there was the vast amount of amazing Queen anthems being played...
Fair enough, John wasn't present on bass, but he wasn't exactly the most prominent member of the band was he?? And yes, I will admit, no-one will EVER replace Freddie, but Paul Rodgers is doing anything but trying to emulate Freddie's style. He has his own take on the songs - they sound different - they have a different - but, they still sound amazing!
For me, this is the best I will ever get to seeing Queen, which, to be fair, is correct, and I, for at least one satisfied customer, am not complaining!

ok can we return to the original question-Does anyone know how the open air gigs are selling.we need to sell out portugal as we will be seen all over the globe!
Don't know about the ticket sales .... sorry BUT BPP, I have been a Queen fan since 1978 and, like you, I thought I could never see them with another singer (esp since Robbie Williams and George Michael were the ones that were quoted), however, this tour is not Queen. It is a chance to hear Brian's amazing guitar work at first hand without him having to carry all the vocals and hear Roger pounding the drums and them both obviously LOVING IT.
I think PR was a great choice and they do go back a long way (Expo 92). I also admire his bravery in doing it. They are not conning anybody. Only a total imbecile would expect to see FM or JD. In 1992, Brian said he couldn't think of Queen carrying on now "but in the future, who knows. We may do something."
I'm grateful for the chance to see them again, they were fantastic shows. If you choose not to see them, then you are missing out on some very special nights. That is your choice, but don't say people aren't "real Queen fans" because we're glad of the chance to see our heroes enjoying life, music and entertaining us.
