FM - Peter Freestone

I read this book a year ago, and I'm planning to read it again now. However, I was just wondering as to what you all thought of it if you have read it! Personally, I found it very interesting, and not too prying and I felt Peter Freestone didnt cross the line of what to tell us!

I think you're right- UNLIKE Hutton, Freeston didn't cross the line...

I enjoyed both books very much. Though Peter's book frustrated me a bit with its non-chronological format, divided into subjects instead.

I like Freestone's book better, as well.

I mean, as a huge Freddie fan it is so interesting to read Hutton's book because there are many details in that book about Freddie. BUT - as you get farther in the book you just realize that there are too many details. I feel so sorry for Freddie because, as fans, we know that many of the things described in Hutton's book, Freddie would never have wanted to be out in public.

I prefer Freestone's book because I have more respect for him.

Jim Huttons book uses the phrase "and then we made love" WAY to much. Ok we get it Freddie and you loved eachother.

I thought it was interesting but not written well. He was kinda all over the place. He was vague on some things but would go into detail about other things that were not important. I found it strange that the pictures in the book showing Freddie with his different boyfriends over the years all looked like Freddie.

Both books to me were interesting insights of Freddies' personality at home and on the road.The posts before mine all made very valid points about too much info given here or too little there. For me though I really enjoyed the stories of Freddie shopping or entertaining at home and of course the stories of being on tour. I'm sure to a certain extent both authors were using their books as a way of healing their own wounds after losing Freddie as well as memoirs for themselves.

What is Jim Huttons books called, I may have to buy it and see what its like. However now, I am rather worried of what I will think!

It was called Mercury and Me, Amie! It may be trite and self indulgent but I enjoyed the love story between FM and Jim, it was sweet and by today's standards tame sexually.

You may have to buy it on ebay since it has been out of print for 7 years, I believe.

Hutton just had one goal with the book: Revenge and money.

First of all he writes in his book he's a huge Bowie fan and that he never heared of Freddie before. Bullshit if your a Bowie fan you know he recorded under pressure with Queen zo he knew Freddie. He just said that to look like he didnn't do it for the money. He didn't get money from Freddie after Freddie's death, Mary got it, so he was pissed off.

I hate both books, I mean these folks can say what they want - afterall Freddie is not here to say what is true or what is not. Also picked up some inconsistencies with Peters book - he says things in that but contradicts himself when he is interviewed on the TV. I think it is about time Peter got a real job and stopped trying to suck fame and money off Freddie's memory. But hey, tis just my opinion and we are all entitled to own our own opinions - tis just you asked :-))

I just finished the Book: "My Life with Freddie Mercury" From Jim Hutton, i enjoyed it but there where some details i didn't like, he could use some less details 'bout his sexlife with Freddie is awful to read..but there are also some funny facts in...so i enjoyed it most of the time...
