I love Freddie for his music his talent not for him being gay/bi that doesnt matter to me, in the long run we must never forget that he was the best showman rockstar in the world gay or not hes still my hero.
"I'm a greedy bitch" - Freddie Mercury REST IN PEACE FREDDIE MERCURY!!
Gays don't appreciate Freddie (or Queen for that matter) because gay people have an awful music taste, therefore they like all the shitty music like Barbara Streisand, Cher, Madonna, and genres like techno, disco, and dance.

So whenever you hear someone saying... "that music sounds kinda gay", what they mean is:

"it sounds like CRAP".

Actualy I think you should look at it a more psychologique....

Barbara Streisand and Madonna or some other female singers (Doley Parten maybe too) are adonished by gay man because of the fact that they have that faminity that they are looking for.... They might not be the best female singers or gay they just are in the view of gay man very faminine...

On the contrary to gay women (lesbians) they are very against Madonna, Barbara Streisand or other female, because of the fact they are to faminine... and sure don't go around looking like Britney Spears you might get a fist or called dolley.... Very funny to notice is that within the lesbian sociaty they do not adonish that much of famous ppl...They do tent to like much the actress of Tank Girl (be jet no adonishing)

Psychologicaly they explain that gay man have the same mind as (hetero)girls -> they do look up to very female singers, actress
while lesbian are more like (hetero)boys, trying to proove the world they don't need help and that they all can do it by themselfs...

Of course this is all psychologic view....
it is alot of crap about gays not liking freddie. everybody has different tasts in music no matter if they were gay of straight. and as madonna having not talent, THAT IS A LOAD OF CRAP! she's writes her own songs thankyou very much. she has been in the business for over 20years changing herself imagine and that's talent to keep yourself original with todays music styles.
and as for freddie i love him just as much as any other queen fan. and he didn't want to say he was gay or bi because he thought it would kill his career. elton john didn't come out until the earliy 90's. no one knew about rock hudson until the great actor died. rock stars and actors have imagine to live up to. for fans of all sexualiy.

and that's my two cents!

I am straight, I really should not listen to a band whose lead singer was gay. Shouldn't I much rather listen to musicians "of my own" ?

Moreover, I am a woman and Queen do not even have a woman in their band. Should I not listen to Madonna or Blondie instead?

I hope you see that your idea that gay people automatically like Freddie's music only because he was gay is unrealistic.

As to the "openly gay" issue: Freddie always refused to answer questions about his sexual orientation. Although he never really denied it, he also never openly confirmed it. He said he wanted to keep the "mystique". The truth is that he was also a good business man and he did not want to alienate fans who might have a problem with it.
First, I totally agree 100% with what Barb said.

2nd....here's one for you.

Freddie himself, was a fan of Liza Minelli, Liz Taylor (though she's an actress not a musician), Marilyn Monroe (also an actress), and Montserrat Caballe...all iconic women that Gay men like and so Freddie for whatever appeal certain female artists have for gay men, Freddie had the same tastes, as well as for disco music (though many straight people love disco, disco was born initially as a reaction and out of the New York gay counter culture).

Wow! To find such ignorance and bigotry in this day and age is astonishing and appalling!
'Gays' don't have an opinion on Freddie's coming out or not - most intelligent gay people understand the trauma of coming out, and that it's a personal choice to do so or not, and that everyone has their own reasons for making that choice, so a gay person lambasting someone for not coming out, highlights them as vacuus, and so not worth listening to.
As for 'gays' not liking Queen, that too is bollocks - all the gay guys I know love Queen. Of those that I've talked with, none of them like Queen JUST because Freddie was gay/bi/curious (though he was bent as a bottle of chips, whether anyone else likes it or not) but because the music is so good.
As for Cher/Kylie/Madonna, that's not music for 'gay' people - it's music for 'camp' people... you'll find the vast majority of 'gays' aren't camp and don't buy into the 'gay' ethos of listening to crap just because it's purportedly 'gay'. Sadly, there are a few that do, but they're just pointless, weak-minded cretins - their sexuality has nothing to do with it.
And me? Been a Queen fan since '75, been gay since the day I was born, been camp once and that was only for a laugh, been 'out' since 1987, work for a gay company, listen to prog rock, and I didn't attempt to shag Freddie when I met him. He wasn't my type. Much rather have Roger.
End of rant. Until next time...
Remember the annoying interview with the lady asking the same questions? (Champions Of the World) She asked if IWTBF was dedicated to the "gay world". And he answered with something like: No, it's not written for the gayworld at all, it's basically about everybody...besides it's not my song, John wrote it. *wink* *wink*
We love you Mandy!

Eekabear... I wrote something quite similar to what you wrote, but then descided 'no, forget it, I'm not getting in this again - it's no use anyway', and deleted.

But you are absolutely right!

It's shocking to see how ignorant, shortsighted and full of prejudice and stereotype people can be.

Rob Halford (Judas Priest) is openly GAY!
Think about that one for a while.
I dont mind gays or bisexuals or watever because at leats they dont hury me i like them or hurt my feelings thats to nayone old human being though.Freddie Mercury was my love of my life my rock legend singer and hero and still is so no take the piss out of my lovely adorble sexy freddie mercury!!!!

I don't see why it matters. Freddie was a great singer weather he was gay or strait. As a strait person I really don't see why people make such a big deal about it. Freddie was one of a kind gays and straits agree.

I have to say you're speaking out your ass a lil. Freddie not answering questions publically had nothing to do with good business. Why would he sing homosexual lyrics on a record. What, he didn't expect anyone to buy Mr. Bad Guy? Be for real, Freddie was what he was as Roger Taylor said and I don't think he cared what he thought. This is further proved by how he dealt with the AIDS issue, everyone and their mama knew it wasn't normal for someone to lose that much weight over a couple of yrs but he didn't shy away from making videos. To psychologically analyse Freddie, I'd say he probably felt the answer was too obvious already, why would he need to say anything when you can already see it. The same with his sexuality, if you didn't know and cared to know the answer you're obviously stupid. Some of the smarter zoners will understand that.
.....I don't know what happen yesterday ... but half of my message fall out of it...

so after: of course this is all psychologic view... I wanted to make clear that this wasn't my point of view and that this was only ppl giving a stereo type to the gay world.... I got this psychologic view from teachers at the UCD when I studied SEN (Special Education Needs)... I have to say I was outraged...
I got a week suspention because I told him that this was ridiculous and called him an ignorent...
I am not gay but bisexuel (ne, I said it), but aldought it was directed to the gay ppl I was kind of upset... I have been going out a lot within the gay area and I can tell you this isn't correct at all... Just go and take a look at the George in Dublin or the Castle Inn(aldough I think it has changed of address I am not sure)...

I don't like mecanics .... I am quite feminine(you can ask to everyone who was at the Cologne Concert)and do like to ask the help of my neighbour male of female....

Ofcourse to the same teacher (back in time), I have no right of speech as I am bisexual and bisexuality is a lot bullucks and are ppl who are confused....
