I know, I was in 5th grade during the monday night wars and I was a WCW fan until they lost Flair. While I still liked Goldberg and Kevin Nash, WWF(E) stole Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho not to mention they had Hunter Hearst Helmsley, D-Generation-X and Kurt Angle.
WWF could have been matched or even beaten but Eric Bischoff and Larry Zbysko (Sp?) were such dumbasses that they killed it.

WCW did match and was beating WWF (E) in 1996, it lost because it simply didn't want to push new talent, as you say, Goldberg was the only one who got a break...and who killed him off? Hogan & Nash...

Goldberg got killed off by WWE because Linda McMahon gave him a shitty rap.
Nash was my favorite wrestler growing up. Like him and Shawn Michaels.
And the problem with WCW was its management, not talent. If you read RF's book, he goes into detail on how Bischoff let Hogan pretty much run the place as he wanted, meaning, Hogan could restrict anybody he wanted. Then those shitty storylines near the end with Ric's family. Bleah. How the fuck is David FLAIR, Larry Zbysko's son? Then Rick's other son (12 years old mind you) comes in and hits HULK HOGAN in a double leg?

The best season mode was Smackdown 2 where you had their set storyline for a year and a half but you could have 4 players and go as long as you wanted. You could even manipulate title competition. The only problem is that it got repetitive and the loading screens were slower than Big Show. That was great for the technology at the time.
But I get soooo bored on that GM mode. Triple H never loses and Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam keep trading the IC title. Trish hasnt lost the womens title but she cant win a non title match. And Eugene and Carlto Colon are dominating the Tag Team division. It is not very climactic and SD is whooping us in ratings.[/QUOTE]

No Mercy was pretty good too. They should make today's games as user friendly as that. I mean, you could have title matches with who you want when you want it, not like on SD3-6 where you had to do the season mode.
Id recomend SD 2 if you have a PS2 because its a great game to play if you have people over. And the 4 player season mode can become very interesting.

Did you ever see the Ultimate Warrior/Hogan match in 1998? I can't remember which PPV it was (it might have been Starrcade), it was the worst match ever! But it's great comedy, you as a wrestler though may find it a bit distressing. One of the factors which led to WCW's downfall was because they let Thunderlips and others pretty much run the company and not proving their 'superiority' as they put on the worst of matches.
