100% volunteer. Richard is financially responsible for maintaining the website, although the ads pay for some of the expenses.

The website belongs to Richard Orchard. He created it, does all the programming and is the only owner of the website. He pays for all expenses and introduced the google ads to reduce the costs somewhat. I only help with some routine tasks like answering emails, validating pictures and Freddie messages etc - and deleting annoying marquee users (just kidding) Of course I am not paid, it's just a hobby. Queenzone is a pure fan website and it only exists because of the dedication and perseverance of Richard.
It's a lot of work to keep the site running and it makes me angry when people use the notice board for their gross and brainless garbage. It should be a place where fans can meet other fans and discuss whatever they want. Any kind of language is allowed and all topics. But 10 people who seem to have grown up in the gutter are enough to scare off hundreds of regular users who used to have a lot of fun here. The personal board is the worst place at the moment followed by the sharing forums where people do not request but demand and others do not share to share the fun but share to annoy other people.

Isn't that why we have a personal section at this board? I mean, people can decide where they want to go. If they want to do a serious discussion about Queen, they go to the serious discussion section.

I must say I don't really understand the thinking behind what gets deleted and what doesn't.
I mean free speech is great and it's nice to have it, however, when posts like Rape with Roger get on here in yet someone deletes the sexy Queenzoner posts you have gotta wonder what Richard is thinking, there are young kids here and they will be influenced by at least some of this crap.
Then we get Arlene spouting her tales from fantasy land and some youngers zoners where atcually going to send here there pocket money!!!
For god sake if anybody needs moderating it's her, I see she is now back as if nothing had happened.

I think you misunderstood. I don't think anyone has a problem with threads like for example: I am totally convinced... It's sheer nonsense and fun and does not hurt anybody. People can skip it if they don't want to be a part of it. It would be different if the topic were written in huge green letters to outshine other threads or the topic starter had a 30 letter username which blew up the board. Or if the topic starter would post 5 threads with the same title in a row etc etc - marquees are something that annoys people, too.

It was the new incarnation of a previous troll and he will be deleted whenever he posts again, just like about 20 other trolls in the bad ip data base. Arlene is not a troll. You can think about her what you like but her posts are covered by the policy of free speech. Please remember that her thread about her financial situation would not have snowballed if not so many people had posted. I do look at threads I do not post in and when ET wanted to send money I spoke to her and I spoke to Barry as well. But basically, the QZ users are supposed to look out for themselves, this is not a safe environment. From experience I know that older users look out for the younger members and that was always great about this board.
As to the "Roger rape" thread - if you delete this topic you have to make strict rules what is allowed and what is not allowed. We do not have such rules and we will never have them. If you want to moderate a board in such a way you need at least 5 people who monitor the board all the time and who would want this. You cannot have "some" moderation - either the board is moderated and you have censorship or you have to live with some people who have no ethics and think they are "cool" posting such crap. It's the response of the majority of the board which stops them. However, I admit there have been very few cases of censorship when people crossed the line in an outrageous way.

Just as newspaper Editors are responsible for there content on amount of claims otherwise prevent them from being held accountable.

Arlene is not my friend. On the contrary, I find her disgusting. I dislike everything she does, her hysterical way, her lies and pretenses. I did not like her from the start and I stopped posting in her threads pretty quickly. I usually do not say something bad about people on this board but Arlene is a special case because obviously she managed to make people believe that we are friends of some sort which we are not. I agree with every word you said and in fact I did act when I saw how ET responded to the situation. It was one of the rare cases when I actually contacted members about a notice board issue. I spoke to ET and she consulted her dad on the matter. I know that other board members take responsibilty too when they see something that needs to be addressed.
This is not my message board, I am a member like everybody else and I would not dream to try and bully someone off the board. Even if it were my message board I would not want this. I would not want to select people according to my personal taste. How boring would that be. I also do not think that QZ is a childrens website. When children post here, it's the responsibility of their parents, not Richard's. The internet is not a movie theater where you can ask people's ID at the entry. It's every parent's responsibility to ensure that their kids only visit websites that are appropriate for their age.
That does not mean that I approve of Arlene's behaviour or condone some language displayed on this board - but it's not about me or my taste.

I have no beef with teenagers in general, but it seems as if many here have an inflated sense of self-importance and no concept of maturity (how's that for overgeneralizations).
I don't mind the occassional post, but an entire thread about rape fantasies followed by a "it's totally harmless" comment is completely immature. But, perhaps, that can be expected from someone who uses the scrolling marquee in order to find his own posts.
