According to this Italian site (http://www.stradivarius.it/scheda.php?ID=202000273972000&PHPSESSID=a68207cf6d6aad1dba4b1eef5ede9283) the cd-version of the Teachers album was released July 2nd, 1985. The soundtrack (vinyl version) came out September 28th, 1984 (USA).

September 28th? Excellent. I was off by three days, but was working from an October/November issue of some music magazine article I read online somewhere. If I can find the link, I'll post it, but the gist was, "...Recently released "Teachers" Soundtrack, featuring (listed the artists, including Freddie)..."
At the time this was closest thing to an actual release date, which coincided with the release of the film.
