paul has been consistent in his public comments from the get go
hell he cancelled his tour last year just to do the european tour... he put all his projects on hold..
and out of fairness he had a few more projects then Queen did-- unless of course it was GHIV or the world famous box set.,.. there were certainly no tour or album plans with them
he got them out.... we got to see some magic again... and he annouces a few solo dates and gets dogged

The way I've seen this whole deal is that Bri and Rog weren't doing much, Paul wasn't doing much....why don't they do something together? And luckily (for the most of us) it worked out that way. And remember, all good things must come to an end.

I didn't know about him doing solos shows as well.
All and all, I think PR did this thing for a few good reasons:
1. Money - Let's face it, with Queen he can reach a wider audience, be a part of a totally different kind of tour(in terms of size), and he can pull in a pretty pay check while pursuing more personal music interests(solo shit).
2. For B + R - Brian was a friend, and Roger certainly is now. Paul has helped bring them back together which is a good thing.
3. Artistry and music - I don't think Paul would have bothered if he didn't think he would be inspired in some way other than just taking on Queen's catalogue. I think all along he had the idea that they might be in it for the long haul.

If Paul Rodgers wants to continue his solo career that's great. As a musician you look for ways to expand your artistry. His tastes in music go beyond Queen.
I'm thrilled I got to see him with Queen and respect him as a musician. Whatever he chooses to do I'll respect and support it. If I like it I may even purchase it.

as far as David Lee Roth goes, i dont think he is very pleased with this tour, or should i say paul rodgers.
many times during his radio show, DLR has more or less stated that no matter who you use to front Queen,its like "live kareoke" (sp)..i dont think he has anything against paul rodgers, i just think he feels that the shoes Freddie wore will never be filled(DLR is a fan of Queens music and thinks that Freddie is in a class all to himself)thats my take on it

Paul Rodgers has all the time been very clear about the relationship with Queen. He is sympathetic and not doing this for the money.
He doenst deserve this, and if it had't been for him...nothing of this would have happened...

This is sad to read this thread.. Growing up (and today) I was a huge Queen Fan as well as Bad Company. I personally think this isa great match up. I mean it isn't Queen and it isn't Paul Rodgers, it isa great mix of classic 70's Rock N Roll.
I think Paul is a distinctive voice in classic Rock and one of the best. Of course he could never, nor are they looking for him to, replace Freddie who was without question a one of a kind. Brian and Roger were sitting on their asses doing nothing and if nothing else the coombination of Paul and "Queen" got them out playing shows and they seem to be enjoying it.
Brian and Roger could have obviously taken many known or unknown singers and they seemed to think Paul fit with what they were trying to do at the time. In all honesty I think they could have choosen someone who could try tp replace Freddie but that surely wasn't their intent and they didn't want to disrespect themselves, Freddie or the fans by doing that. I personally would rather see Paul on his own but these shows are great. I don't know why people are complaining about a guy who is out there fronting this band in arenas and singing his ass off.

I think Paul Rodgers is wonderful. The first time, hey, I missed Freddie. I still do and I always will. I just had a hard time accepting him and I stated that fact. Paul isn't Fred; and he's not trying to be. Now that I've seen Queen + Paul Rodgers 2 more times since then, I think he's brilliant. There is no other singer I can imagine to front them. He's soulful, he's charismatic, he's putting 110% into the shows and he's brought Queen back to us. As people have pointed out time and time again, it's Brian and Roger who wanted this guy to front the band and it's working. When they do Bad Company tunes during the show, THEY KICK ASS, all of them. Tonight I will see them for the last time on this tour. I can't wait and I will be cheering every bit for Paul as I do for the others. I have been a fan of this band for 30 years, and hell, if I can accept him, anyone should be able to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And the only reason Roth is complaining about them touring with Paul Rodgers is because he wishes HE had that gig. It wasn't so long ago that Mr. Roth was himself "playing state fairs and tractor pulls". Somebody sticks a microphone in this mook's face and suddenly his opinion is supposed to matter? You all realize that when the Eagles did their first reunion tour called the "Hell Freezes Over World Tour 1994-1996 Live!" that in the middle of 1995 two of their members (Joe Walsh and Don Henley I believe it was) actually did their own solo tours for their own hit compilations for a little while, right? It is no biggie and frankly it is probably all a good thing! He is promoting himself which does nothing but help this whole Queen + Paul Rodgers thing now. I think if Queen wanted to do a few shows without him as well that would be cool too.

I think that Queen need to tour more of the world AND return to the U.S. For one there are a bunch of places here that they did not tour AND they need to tour some of the same places again because you have to work in places in order to re-build your fanbase up again. They need to do it still badly here in the U.S. AND they have been successful at doing this so far. Hey Doc i have more money then your family tree combined if we have to get childish.I support this tour.I report all the attendance each night by calling 3-5 people a day and verifying then posting here and at wegotit.com.I have seen three shows and have bought tix for many others as gifts.all im saying if you would pay attention is wait until this is done then move gracefully.To announce this half way through would be like Queen saying we are touring with George Micheal starting in July after this.Let it run its course.Why do people get personal(some people)when this is a forum for a good debate.Grow up and take your meds.
he's playing in hotels and small places ,6 shows ,whats the big deal. he can still work with queen.he's done very well by the fans by doing this tour.
