Paul Rodgers adding more solo dates

All of the above points are true.

More importantly to stateside:

Paul Rodgers WAS active before you heard of him for the Queen+ tour. I saw Bad Co. in 2001 (he was with "half" the band no less). I have to say, that performance felt flat to me. His material played with our boys has SO much more oomph to it.

Now, on to the bigger point: Here is some reasearch --
Did you know PAUL had a solo tour booked before QUEEN+ toured last spring? If you would like it, I will send you scans of newspaper (that thing before the internet?)articles from places like Madras, Oregon. He was scheduled to play this little town in 2005, and when the tour was announced, a couple of articles appeared saying his management assures everyone he will still play there, and they were all thrilled a big rock-n-roll star would consider honoring his obligations in their tiny town. Then, as the QUEEN+ tour dates were expanded, he ultimately cancelled the show in Madras (see, Im using the name again so you can put it in an internet search engine and "verify" this). His planned date there was ONE of several planned during the same time Queen+ blazed across Europe.

Regardless of your opinions on Paul, his voice, his suitability as a singer for Queen, etc, please, could you next time maybe just "suggest" such allegations (as Paul using this to enhance his own career) instead of throwing them out as "fact" for us? Having said that -- If I were in his shoes, I would be excited that throwing in with Queen boosted my rep and brought in some more sales. And if he decides hes gonna go back out there and work some of the smaller clubs and halls as he planned before he hooked up with our heroes, shit, my hat is off to the man.

Btw statesidefan, I toned down my post, I started ranting myself! I wish I could just chalk it up to having seen so many stupid/negative posts on here the last several years, but reality is I was just a smartass. Wasnt supposed to be a personal attack. My point is: Paul DID have a career prior to this tour that was in full swing (that doesnt mean huge stadium tours are the only way to measure success). A few years ago he released a Grammy-award winning solo album, following that up with several more collaborations, leading up to a lot of small gigs, as I said, even gigs scheduled during the time our boys were doing their (not there, or theyre) Euro-tour. He had a Bad Co. semi-reunion (he referred to it as a sort-of contractual obligation recently) -- even an album, so I dont think he was invisible. Certainly off my radar for a long time, too, though. I only saw Bad Co. cuz they were touring with Styx ;) And like I said, Bad Co. felt very flat to me. Surprisingly, Paul's material seems to have zing and real crowd popularity with our boys, and I dont just mean in the USA, I saw them overseas in 2005, and if anything, his stuff had more sing-alongs (course, his songs lean in that direction). Heheh, like I said before, if I was prancing in his shoes, I woulda done the same thing. I DONT think it is wrong for him to make a ton of money from all of us Queen fans... of course, I also dont think its wrong for him to then go back and play the shithole clubs he was playing before he made that assload of cash from us. So yeah, he just might be a trooper. No Mother Teresa, but pretty cool to do that anyway, yknow?

Donna13: good point, Paul had fewer dates on his tours sometimes because he didnt stretch his voice so far so often, which might also account for the reason stateside hadnt heard of any of his touring: not that many dates on his tours. Well, that and the fact the places like Madras, Oregon ARE rinky-dink size. :)

Just a thought,how about Gary Cherone.He's got a powerful voice and he was pretty good at the Tribute concert?I don't think he's doing anything, and he's friends with Brian and Roger.The only thing that scares me is what happened with Van Halen,not very good,but it could have been the material.

OK stateside, share your infinite wisdom with us and tell us this: If, as you state, PR is only concerned with money and lining his pockets, why wouldn't he take this Queen gig as far as he can? He definitely won't make more money playing solo gigs. It seems to me that he may have other concerns other than money. It doesn't add up.

And before you get indignant about personal attacks, go read your initial post - a flat out attack on PR's character and talent.

I'm pretty sure Paul Rodgers financially is set for life .I doubt very much he's doing this for money.He's said it before he really enjoys playing with great musicians remember Jimmy Page and The Firm?

Doc-he stated although Queen has tons of money he was not set for life and the money was a factor for him.I think the interview in on here or Bri's site.Enough with the insults ok i dont have the energy for this nonsense.My issue is to announce this now.It must be deflating for Brian and Roger as we all have read they wanted to record and possibly hit S.America.We are all on the same team here ok but my loyalties are always with Queen.Have a good weekend guys.
