According to you that wouldn't be a threat since I'm not God nor I have the capacity of physical power to actually make an asteroid drop on anybody.

It, however, cannot be assumed that the author of the blatant death threat has not the ability to carry through with the actions stipulated within his threat. Through his letter, he would have made two assumptions: a) that he had the capability to make an attempt at the life of the president, and b) that he had the intentions of doing so. The only way to find out the veracity of these points is to issue an FBI investigation. He should be punished if not only for wasting the resources of the government, as he gave the government valid cause to use those resources.

B) Hitler made an honest solicitation to these resources to carry out his will, knowing that his requests would have been fulfilled.

C'mon, it's just a 13 year old kid acting like a silly little punk. The kid at it's worst should just be asked to do community service, but from there to actually treat him like a terrorist is completely fuckin' ridiculous.

It, however, cannot be assumed that the author of the blatant death threat has not the ability to carry through with the actions stipulated within his threat. Through his letter, he would have made two assumptions: a) that he had the capability to make an attempt at the life of the president, and b) that he had the intentions of doing so. The only way to find out the veracity of these points is to issue an FBI investigation. C'mon, it's just a 13 year old kid acting like a silly little punk. The kid at it's worst should just be asked to do community service, but from there to actually treat him like a terrorist is completely fuckin' ridiculous.
It's clear that this government is stepping down to the level of immaturity of a naive teenager who just wants to play bad-ass. One more sign of how this administration is wasting time and money on things that are not even worth it.
Pat Robertson himself is more capable of actually convincing the government of killing Hugo Chavez giving his ties to the other bunch of ultra conservative cronies at the White House. On the other hand, the worst thing that kid could possibly do is vandalize local property, or shoplift snacks from a 7 Eleven.
The most pathetic thing is that we have murderers, rapists, cons, and perhaps even terrorists in this country who are running free. Tons of crimes that are still unsolved, and we send the FBI to track a 13 year old kid who just has a little too much free time on his hands.

I'll agree that the response may be exaggerated, but to even compare the death threats with what Robertson said is a joke. And I still think he should be punished - like you said, have him do community service or spend time in some juvenile detention center...or whatever they do to kids.
