Red Hot Chili Peppers have yet to sell out. They haven't done anything to be classified as sellouts to my knowledge. They've changed their musical style over the years, but that's it. With this album, though, they go back to that funk sound that made them big in the first place.
I'm serious. They really brought back the funk on this album.
Now, I just bought this album a couple of days back, and I just finished listening to the 1st disc (Jupiter). From what I've heard so far, this has to be their most excellent and triumphant effort since Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which has been heralded as the best album of their career.

This double album has the early style of RHCP (from albums like BSSM, Mother's Milk, The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, etc.) integrating with their newest styles (Californication, By The Way) to make one hell of a double album, in my opinion. So come on, this is a great album, trust me. It's not expensive, either. I bought it for $12 at Best Buy! That's a freakin' steal.

For some reason you're one of those who think that anything that has commercial appeal is crap. Well, The Beatles has by far sold more records than any other band... Does that make them crap?
Regardless of any of that, I do agree that 'Stadium Arcadium' is not too experimental, but I'd rather hear a band that sticks to it's original sound (without carbon copying previous material) rather than trying to make something totally different and then making an album that sounds like crap.
Yet still, 'Stadium Arcadium' sounds quite original in certain ways.

And I don't say that popularity makes bad music, but I do say that a band which switches to more accessible material in order to attract more listeners is guilty of selling out.
