i beg to differ....having been to different queen tours...i can tell you..they usually say somethign like "this is from our new album"

Even though I happen to like Hot Space, this is a refreshingly objective, honest and down-to-earth personal review. More of that please ! It's much more pleasing to broaden your horizon and accept that music taste is a matter of personal preferences and totally subjective.
I looove Queen but I have no problems in saying that e.g. "My life has been saved" is IMO pretty boring ! I understand the younger ones on this board, because when I became a fan, someone who disliked Queen was an enemy... ! ;-) But growing up that changed, and to me it is even more interesting to explore their catalogue in critical discussion with others than to just say "every single note they have ever played is divine".[/QUOTE]

Ok, I agree with most of this! But the bit about giving reasons why somebody loves Body Language, or any song, well, cant you just love a song without haveing to shed reason? Everything else, pretty ok, but I do like pretty much every Queen album, just certain songs I dont like.

Oh well. Not only the youngest 15 year old fans like Hot Space and you don't have to be a Stepford fan to like it. I like the album but I don't think Queen were flawless. I like other bands but it just happens that Hot Space was the second Queen album I had (I was 10 years old) and I liked it a lot. It'll always have a special place in my Queen fan heart, hehe :).

I was kinda surprised to hear that, because I was in my ANATO/Queen2/Innuendo artistic Queen period. Then I rediscovered Hot Space and enjoyed it a lot, because I remembered listening to the album about 14 years ago without knowing almost anything about the band and just loving it to bits.
I just like it. It's not a masterpiece. It's not Queen's best musically diverse album but it's very enjoyable. Good music to drive with, hehe :).

In my opinion AKOM is one of Queen's blandest albums. Sure, there are some good tracks on there, but 'One Year of Love', 'Pain', 'Don't Lose Your Head' and 'Friends' are pretty dull, in my opinion. And songs like 'One Vision' and 'AKOM' sounded much better live. 'Gimme the Prize' is fun (especially the "bagpipe" solo), and 'Who Wants to Live Forever' is one of my favourite Queen moments. I've never cared much for 'Princes' though, sounds unfinished somehow.
The Game has some outstanding tracks, which somehow make up for the somewhat less interesting ones, like 'Play the Game', 'Save Me', 'Sail Away', 'Dragon Attack'.

It's not that bad in general... but for a band that had previously put out masterpieces of music such as Queen II, A Night At The Opera, A Day at The Races, and News Of The World, it's awful.
If we think about it, every Queen album (no matter how criticized it is) came from the 4 gods we all worship. They all have a Queen thing in them. I have favourite songs on all of them (except Flash I think...). Can you HS haters deny a song like Under Pressure or Life is Real as being a piece of trash?

Many people don't like hot space because it wasn't like anything queen had ever done. I love that album, but that was their most trendy time.
I know the guys from queen loved mack, so how horrible could he have been. the game was a great album for them, it obviously wasn't the same as their earlier stuff, but queen were always changing. The works, magic and the miracle were equally good, but not brilliant albums.
In my opinion, some album songs had a soft feel to them, yet when performed live they were played much stronger. Brian is a perfect example of it. Live his music has a brilliant sound, in studio his music sounds softer, cleaner, etc. If Hot Space had a hard feel to it, and wasn't so polished, it would be a much better album. Stronger guittar presence would do the job.
