In the end I'm happy for Italy. But I have mixed feelings:
- France played much better - or at least a much more attractive football
- Italy is a team of players who keep falling down even when they're not fouled (such as del Piero)
BUT
- the penalty kick for France was nonsense
- what Zidane did was extremely stupid

Italy win the World Cup - proof indeed that cheats prosper.
With the match-fixing scandal in Italian football, the last thing that the sport needed is that country's national side to win the World Cup. They have consistently dived throughout this year's competition, and although Zidane deserved to get sent off, the reaction from the Italian player was ridiculous and over the top. He should have been booked for cheating.
Overall, the tournament has been tarnished with cheating, diving and 'simulation'. Sadly, FIFA are too lilly-livered to do anything about it, and the BBC pundits should be ashamed for glossing over this issue.

Sad thing is...this wont be remebered as Italy winning the 4th but how Zidane got sent off.
