Italy deserved to win? We could argue. Italian players deserved to win? YES!
This was the victory of a team, not of a single man. In 7 games Italy scored 12 goals with 10 different players. Playing all defensive? With 2 or 3 forwards? Or with 4 forwards, like when we played against Germany? No way. Italy was mainly an offensive team with a very strong defense, probably the best of the world. Only 2 goals, 1 autogol and a penalty. There is a difference between playign defensive and having a strong defense. And while I agree that Italian players where always staying on the ground after a foul, I don't think that they dived so many times as someone said (not counting Del Piero). We could argue about this too.
But Italian players won, because they were probably the strongest group. 21 players out of 23 played in the 7 games. 10 scored. Gattuso always worked hard and has always been an humble person, with a great heart. Toni was in B 3 years ago. Grosso was in C2 five years ago (4th category). They have become champions.

Italy won cuz The French Bull had a short temper!! They wouldn't have a chance if Zidane woz still in the game.
I think Italy deserved to win the whole championship, they probably had the best team and a truly excellent defence.
But I also think that Italy is (together with Portulgal) the world champion in diving and simulating which is a shame. And calling Zidane a terrorist (or whatever Materazzi told him) is a tactics that is not really something to be proud of, don't you think?

Italian players always remained on the ground after a foul (and that's simulating) but I don't think they dived as much as you say.
Insulting the other players is not a nice tactic, but I don't think it was planned at the french coach said. Something similar happened with Totti against Denmark some years ago, anyway.
