Now now Jess, that's rather harsh don't you think? Personally, I really don't like the whole Queen + Paul Rodgers thing. I didn't like the idea of it when it was announced (especially after all the "Paul was Freddie's favourite singer" bollocks), but I went to Hyde Park anyway, and I really wasn't too keen on the finished product - it just sounded like an expensive tribute band to me. Therefore, it's unlikely that I will go out and buy a Q+PR album, but that is my personal choice, and I fail to see how that would make me a 'retard'.

It's like this - to me, not buying future releases because "Queen" is written on them is basically like living in 1973 and not buying a copy of "Queen" because you think the name sucks. It's the same total disregard for whatever music is on the record - if you can't listen to something before giving up on it, what are you worth???
I'd be pissy if they call this Queen and it's all new songs, because basically that's not really Queen, but I most certainly wouldn't let that stop me from at least listening to the music. Some people are far too caught up in themselves to give anything a chance, sometimes.

That's all well and good Zeb, and I don't diagree with your points. However, if we are playing devil's advocate here, let's flip things around. If they use the name Queen, doesn't that mean that Brian, Roger and Paul are showing total disregard for whatever music is on the record? If they can't confidently release something before giving up on it and going to a proven brand name, what is their new music worth? I'd argue that, regardless of your, my, or opinions of the Queen community regarding the use of the Queen name, the music will stand or fall on its own merits, and that Brian and Roger should accept that, sales be damned.

True enough, and in all honesty I think that Queen could have always afforded to take more risks than they did. (Setlists for certain tours being too predictable, too Greatest-Hits-ee) so it's not like these guys need to play it safe by whacking "Queen" on it.

I'm sure the album (if there is one) will be pretty good. Three musicians like brian, roger and paul are capable of writing some good stuff. Just think how long brian and roger had to write, it's been about 8 years since their last solo albums. to be honest i'm not a big queen + fan, but maybe there will be a lost freddie song or two to peek my interest. It should be good music, but i could take it or leave it, but I'm sure i'll check it out anyway.
