[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME]As much as I like KISS, I don't like the fact that they have to lie about everything. It matters that KISS don't update their sales showing that they are either too cheap to update or lazy or whatever the reason is.
And how exactly has KISS lied? The RIAA has declared KISS as the American group with the highest number of Gold album awards. KISS' former record companies (Casablanca, Mercury, Universal, Sanctuary) all had accountants to verify how many units of each product was produced and shipped.
The KISS Company (Paul and Gene's company) has its own set of auditors and accountants. They know how much each lp has sold. The RIAA does not have updated records of how many units KISS has sold (along with any other band in existence). KISS does not ask the RIAA to re-audit their catalog, it's the responsibility of a record company. The record company is the one who pays a large fee to have the RIAA conduct an audit of a group's catalog. KISS is currently not signed to any record label. Since Casablanca was bought out by Mercury, which was bought out buy Universal, and the fact that KISS is no longer with Sanctuary, means that there is no company who's is going to pony up big bucks to have KISS' catalog audited.
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME]To correct you, KISS lost their popularity in the States from 1980 to 1983 with three flops in a row with Unmasked, The Elder and Creatures (Creatures would not go Gold until 1994).
You're not telling me anything. I told you this in my previous post. And BTW, when KISS' popularity in the U.S. was in decline between the "Unmasked" and "Creatures" lps, they were extremely popular in Australia, Mexico, Brazil, the U.K. and Europe, places where they are still popular today.
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME]KISS' appeal was so bad that KISS Killers didn't get released in their homeland.
I can tell by that last statement that you really don't know much about KISS. The "Killers" lp was not intended to be a U.S. release. Countries outside of the U.S. were asking Casablanca Records for a new greatest hits package. KISS did not want to release one (they already had "Double Platinum"), but decided that if the other countries wanted a new greatest hits package, they wanted to at least include some new material to make it worth-while.
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME]Then KISS flopped harder with Carnival of Souls which exited the charts as quickly as it hit it.
Again by your statement, you don't know what you're talking about.

KISS did not want "Carnival Of Souls" released. Universal Records wanted it released to make back some of their money. "Carnival Of Souls" was recorded by Paul, Gene, Bruce, and Eric Singer during the time when Paul and Gene (unknown to Bruce and Eric) where in negotiations to reform the original lineup of KISS. "Carnival Of Souls" was not promoted by Gene, Paul, or the record company. The die hard fans purchased it. U.S. radio played the first single "Jungle" and it actually received a far amount of airplay. There was no tour in support of the cd (just like "(Music From) The Elder"). Without promotion of any type, the cd was not going to sell many copies.
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME] (even Pink Floyd's live version of The Wall outsold it by a longshot).
First off, who cares?

Secondly, I can't stand Pink Floyd.
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME] The reunion tour of KISS' was a fluke
Here's another statement that shows your ignorance of the band. 192 shows all around the world. The highest grossing tour of 1996. Please, spare me with calling the tour a "fluke".
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME] To correct you on what KISS said about live albums as death
How can you correct me on "what KISS said about live albums as death" when I never brought up that topic?
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME]
, I guess he didn't hear The Who Live at Leeds, Humble Pie's Perfomance, The Allman Bros at Fillmore East and Deep Purple who had their biggest seller with the double live Made in Japan which, unlike Alive!, was ALL live with ZERO OVERDUBS.
You can go on believing that there are live lps out there that have no overdubs and I'll sell you some swamp land in Florida. All of the vocals on Judas Priest's "Unleased In The East" were recorded in the studio. Everything on Peter Frampton's "Comes Alive" was recorded in the studio.

If you want to hear a KISS live cd with no overdubs listen to "Unplugged". They played some songs a few times each and picked the best performance. The only things that were eliminated were Gene messing up the lyrics to "Domino", Paul breaking a guitar string, and Ace using profanity. I have the 3 hour unedited video to prove it.
[QUOTENAME]NOTWMEDDLE wrote: [/QUOTENAME]
There were some multi-disc live albums pre-Alive that were huge sellers (Fillmore East, Performance by Humble Pie, Made in Japan by Purple and Welcome Back My Friends by ELP).
I never stated that KISS "Alive" was the highest selling live lp. That distinction goes to "Frampton Comes Alive".

KISS "Alive" is THE live lp. When you ask hard rock fans to name a live lp, the majority will name this lp. It is that influential.

KISS "Alive" was the start of KISS' success. "Frampton Comes Alive" was the end of Peter Frampton's success.

The band also has to pay the record labels and the RIAA to re-certify its catalogs. I mean AC/DC recently changed record labels and had their sales updated with no problem as High Voltage, Highway to Hell, Back in Black and The Razors Edge were recently re-certified especially since the albums switched over from Atco/Atlantic to Epic with no problem. Queen did an overhaul of their catalog as well in the last few years. Pink Floyd same deal. The Rolling Stones as well. KISS exaggerate everything and were more about being McDonald's and Burger King instead of being the next Beatles. They made great records but they were not the be all and end all to music.

JPF, take your so called KISS knowledge and shove it up yor ass and see where it fits! Many rock fans don't agree with KISS Alive as rock's greatest live album assessment. Many people pick Allman Brothers at Fillmore East or Humble Pie's Rockin the Fillmore or Deep Purple's Made in Japan or even The Who's Live at Leeds as greatest live album ever.

To be factually correct, Alive was a FAKE live album with only live drums as the vocals and guitar notes were so bad that overdubbing was the only route to save the album. Lying and saying it's live is a crock of shit! KISS lied about Alive being a full on live record for years. Personally, my favorite live albums are Pink Floyd's PULSE, Genesis' Seconds Out, Supertramp's Paris, Jethro Tull's Bursting Out, Rush's Different Stages. PULSE, unlike Alive, was ALL live but the bum notes (vocal flubs and mistakes in guitar solos) were lifted from OTHER SHOWS as PF recorded their entire European leg of The Division Bell tour. Technology in the last 15 or so years has improved to the point that you can lift things from one show and insert into another with no problem.
"Spread your wings and fly away, fly away, far away!", "No one makes me sing lullabies and no one makes me close my eyes"
Also I watched Paul Stanley on KISS Xtreme Close Up say critics loved ELP and hated KISS. Correction, ELP were the most hated band by critics. They were hated more than Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Rush, Styx, Genesis and KISS combined.

KISS are now reduced to opening for Aerosmith, what a fall from grace. Aerosmith was on life support from 1993 to 2001 then died after the Super Bowl debacle.

Personally I had bad experiences at KISS concerts (mainly those I went with and took the starch out for me). Seeing their concerts in person was more bland than what appeared on TV. Roger Waters, Rush and Pink Floyd's shows were superb. Floyd were the masters of rock theater (how many bands used flying pigs, brick walls, green and gold lazers, inflatable families, fool the audience with a doppleganger band, not KISS). KISS' concerts have been the same year after year in the last ten years. KISS got worse and worse each year live in recent years. Rush got better. Rush changed their setlists each tour. They dropped certain songs and resurrected more than KISS did and played four songs from Feedback on 2004 tour plus did a medley of songs from their first six albums, played almost all of Xanadu, Between the Wheels, a new ending to Working Man, added a Beatles medley to the end of The Trees and Alex Lifeson's rants on La Villa was more entertaining than hearing Paul Stanley's same rants night in night out. Pink Floyd with every show on their 1994 tour changed songlists nightly. Also David Gilmour and Rick Wright did not play the solos note for note as on the records as they played their guitar and keyboard solos as their hearts felt.

That's your opinion. I don't share the same opinion with you.

The Beatles were the first band to have 4 individuals who were known by name by fans or by people who didn't even listen to their music.

KISS was the next band to have 4 well-known individuals.

Not only is their music known all around the world, but the KISS logo and the four iconic makeup images are identifiable all around the world, too.

BTW, Freddie Mercury stated that Queen's music was disposable.

No different than any other band who's put out a live recording. They've all been overdubbed in the studio.

KISS released Instant Live recordings from just about every concert on their 2004 tour. Straight from the soundboard. No overdubs. I picked mine up 20 minutes after the concert finished. When was the last time your bands did that?

Again you show your ignorance.

The 2003 tour was a co-headlining tour. Saliva was the opening band.

KISS and Aeroshit both played the same amount of time and they both earned 50% of the money.

Get your facts straight next time.

Blah, blah, blah. Sounds like you want to suck Roger Water's cock.

I've seen every RUSH tour since "Grace Under Pressure". Their "Test For Echo", "Vapor Trails", and "R30" tours contained most of the same songs on each tour. They're a band that needs to shake things up with their setlists.

You obviously didn't see KISS' 2004 "Rock The Nation" tour. If you had, you would have known that they mixed up the setlist quite nicely.
"Every night's a party at Melina's mansion!"
Hey dickhead, KISS played the same old same old setlist. I saw them four times, mainly went cos my best friend is a KISS fan and I am a old KISS fan not a hardcore fan like you. I saw them at The Fleet Center in 1996 to almost sell out and 1998, to a half filled audience. Then at the Tweeter Center in 2000 and their farewell tour was a joke, shouldn't have happened IMHO as they were fighting again. Then again in 2004, I went for my buddy and I made him go to Rush in return. FYI, many people left by the time KISS took the stage. Mostly people were there for Poison.

Pink Floyd and Queen on the other hand didn't need personalities or an image to sell records just MUSIC. I take it you and Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons are in co-hoots. KISS fans tend to be blind sheep. You know you will lose the fight with me you KISS troll.

Rush on the other hand sold out every Boston area appearance since 1980/81. I have seen every tour since 1994 and they drop songs and add new material and lost chestnuts. In 1997 they played all of 2112. I saw the R30 tour and they kicked ass and every Rush show I went to was SOLD OUT! Even Rush releasing a covers album beats releasing thirty greatest hits albums like KISS has. I am not wrong. If I ever met you, I'd put you in the cross face chicken wing and put you in the hospital!

Pink Floyd will always be superior to KISS as far as concert presentations, album sales and so on. Plus their charity work is immeasurable whereas Paul and Gene only care about MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!

Hey asshole, get your facts straight. I've proven you wrong every single time. You can't post facts, you post fiction. You have your head up your ass each time you post.

I went to both Boston Reunion (Alive/Worldwide)concerts. Both shows sold out immediately after they went on sale. I had to go through a ticket broker to get tickets for the first show.

They played two shows at the Fleet Center on the "Psycho Circus" tour. The first night was sold out, the second night was 75% full.

I saw both Farewell shows at the Tweeter Center.

If you knew anything about what was going on, you would have know that Ace was drinking again. He started drinking again during the reunion tour and his drinking became a liability during the "Psycho Circus" tour. There are rumors that Ace was also using heroin during either the "Psycho Circus" or "Farewell" tour.

Paul and Gene had had enough of Ace's bullshit.

Again, I was at the Tweeter Center for the "Rock The Nation" tour in 2004. There wasn't a mass exodus after Poison finished. The people were there to see KISS. Again, you're full of fictional information (also known as shit).

You're an idiot.

Freddie Mercury WAS personality. You are beyond stupid.

Queen were just as image conscious as KISS were.

Pink Floyd == shitty music that stoned people listen to. Flying pigs == image.

Why are you telling me all of this? I was there.

BTW, RUSH hasn't sold out any shows at the Tweeter Center. I've seen them there on every tour they've played there. Not one was a sellout. They don't have 19,900 people going to their shows.

Again, you're talking out of your ass.

Fuck you asshole. I hope someone knocks you out or better yet I find you and put you in the hospital.

KISS were just music candy. All sugar but no substance. The band were great from 1974-81 but then they went back to basics and just went boring (like U2). KISS are musically now a joke. The band's musical integrity started to go to Hell after Dynasty in 1979. Unmasked was their first flop and the band lied about Peter not recording the album for years when it was a well known secret amongst rock purists. The Elder was a great album but it was poor by KISS standards. I liked it cos it was a different album. Then Creatures TANKED big time and wouldn't go Gold for 12 years. The band tried to change its sound but lost fans faggotbreath. KISS followed trends musically and did disco tunes, a disco pop record (Unmasked), a concept record (The Elder), hair metal (Lick it Up through Hot in the Shade), a grunge record (Carnival of Souls) and a ill-fated reunion which was a farce. Psycho Circus debuted at #3 but had one of the WORST plummets from the Top 10 in history as it sank from #3 to #33 in its second week as people realized it was a FARCE! Hate to tell the truth but I just spilled the truth so fuck you and your fucking family motherfucker!

FYI, Pink Floyd are not drug music. They are a thinking man's band for people who love to think and expand their minds musically. I rather listen to music that has tempo changes and time signature changes than hear the same old thing. In fact the band members were anti-drug pretty much except for Syd Barrett and we know the story of Syd (R.I.P.). Pink Floyd went from psychedelia and singing about stealing women's panties and gnomes and scarecrows to progressive rock and singing about what it's like to live in the real world. Also the spectre of Syd Barrett continued to inspire the band's music for years on end. Also I am a drug-free PF fan. PF did more for Greenpeace, Amnesty International, Crisis (a homeless charity), Nordoff-Robbins Therapy (which works with those who suffer from autism), The Lung Foundation and countless other charities. PF don't tour for money, unlike KISS who need the money.

David Gilmour is a better guitarist than Ace Frehley (as much as I love Ace) or Vinnie Vincent or Bruce Kulick or Mark St John or Tommy Thayer (fuck the fake Ace).

Phil Collins would slaughter Peter Criss, Eric Carr (who was technically a superior drummer to Peter cos drugs ruined Criss) and the fake Peter Eric Singer who is a FRAUD in a drum contest! Phil is a superior drummer to those dudes.

Steve Harris would slaughter Gene Simmons in a bass playing contest. Also, Steve is not no penny pinching Kike like Gene!

Also Roger Hodgson is a much better singer than Paul Stanley. Hell Ian Anderson is a better showman than the faggot Star Child.

KISS' songs about sex, partying, rock and roll (very predictable).

Pink Floyd wrote songs about different topics like lack of communication to cruel sarcastic teachers to evil bigots.

Rush are more intellectual FYI dickhead!

I hope you die asshole!

Artemismoon, you hit the HAMMER RIGHT on the NAIL SON! As much as I like KISS' older music, I don't like what Stanley and Simmons are doing to the KISS legacy by pissing on it. Alive IV Symphony sucked balls. Want a real live album and or DVD with orchestra or orchestral arrangement buy Dennis DeYoung's The Music of Styx With Symphony and David Gilmour in Concert. Gilmour sings all genres (rock, jazz, folk, blues, lullabies and even opera in FRENCH!) whilst Simmons and Stanley are same old thing. Also Freddie started smoking in 1980 during The Game sessions as his voice changed sounded different on the 1980 tracks as opposed to the 1979 tracks.
