Hi All,
Just got back from the Dominion Theatre & must say A great night was had by All. Everyone was in good spirits, The second half of the show was better, than the first half, it took the first half for everyone to loosen up. The Cast even ad-libbed a bit. McFly appeared through the floor of the stage to sing "Don't Stop Me Now" with the cast(Killer Queen & Kashoggi)
The best part of the night was of course when Queen took to the stage, Brian appeared from floor of the stage during the guitar solo of "Bohemian Rhapsody", followed by roger on the drums at the back of the stage for the heavy bit of the song.
Next it was Brian who took centre stage to Perform "Love Of My Life", Roger then joined him to sing "say it's Not True"
Ben Elton then did a talk, followed by Queen & the cast performing "The Show Must Go On"
one final get together on stage for Queen, The cast & the House Band (Including, Spike & Neil Murry) Ben Elton & McFly, as they played out with "God Save The Queen"
Final Verdict:- Absolutly Brilliant!!!! a great night to celebrate Freddie's 60th Birthday, Brian & Roger rocked.

McFly?? Glad I did not witness that.
Actually it sounds like quite a nice gesture by McFly to appear at a celebration of Freddie's birthday. It shows that perhaps they really do appreciate the role of Freddie's songwriting in getting them to number one last month. Love 'em or hate 'em, it was a nice gesture.
One Disappointment, I thought Deacy should have made the effort to attend, even if was only to walk on the stage to say hello to the fans. But, we can't have everything, can we?

I think McFly are adorable and their sense of humor is something Freddie would have appreciated.
Indeed it would have been nice if John made an appearance, but he's entitled to remember Freddie privately and let go of Queen if he wishes to :)

good to hear you guys had a good time i thought the surprise was going to be elton john or Darkness or foo fighters seeing they are close to Queen well Elton john was he was freddie mate but heard you say mc fly i have nothing against them good for them to sing dont stop me now but i feel better now i am glad i didnt rush about to get a ticket lol mc fly no thanks i will be off to see the show over christmas 2nd time that will do

Bet he still picks up his royality cheque though, He could have made the effort. Even to say Hi, loyality to Freddie my arse, took him 7 years to retire after Freddie's death.

Leave the guy alone for Christ sake, he has left the music business and moved on. In many ways he was effected more than the others by Freddie's death, and I think he is entitled to live in peace without feeling guilty everytime he doesn't show up.

It's an interesting one this.
My sister HATES Quen but was given VIP Passes by a friend that she went with in a group of 10. She called me from the show and said that they were having an awesome time. She also reckoned it was the best thing she had ever seen.
Personally, I'd rather have my teeth ripped out than have to sit through that fucking musical again - once was enogh, believe me, with second-rate singers trying to do what Brian and Roger could barely imitate and that Paul Rodgers has done so well. People prancing around in costumes telling a story that has been told a thousand times before in other films / musicals about the power of music is just not my thing.
The fact that McFly were invited as a special guest kind of sums up what Queen's target audience is with the musical too - getting the Darkness or Foo Fighters in wouldn't really be to the taste of too many in the sudience I wouldn't think - too heavy and too rocky. Disposable cover version pop shit churned out by the likes of McFly is just what the doctor ordered from people that watch X-Factor and other reality show bullshit. It's just Karaoke Queen!
However, maybe it's changed the perception of Queen's music in my sister's mind. And if it's been able to do THAT, then I suppose it really can't be all that bad, can it.

Don't know if you saw different performers than I did in each of the 3.5 times I saw the musical, but the three lead females (Hannah Fox as Scaramouche, Kelly Ellis as Meat and Killer Queen) all had excellent voices and did great justice to the music within the context of the musical.
I can't argue with the rest of your comments (as the story obviously doesn't hold any merit for you, and I can understand that), but I had to support these leads as I thought they were excellent.
As for McFly, I have nothing against them. They do what they do, and I find some of their songs catchy. I thought their DSMN cover was okay.

I'm surprised that there wasn't a separate "celebration" by Spike's All Stars like the one done for the 10 year anniversary. That would've been more to the liking of the majority of Queen fans

You know him do you? How do you know he was affected more than the others? Didn't Brian end up receiving therapy and pondered on suicide, while John was pictured with strippers, how upset was he.
