Roger has perfect timing and for those songs - Break Free, Staying Power, etc - player perfectly on stage. But in the studio most of them were e-drums or programmed, whether we like it or not.
Final Destination (Roger version, not The Cross) doesn't have Yoshiki on drums, it's Roger - check the Foreign Sand CD single sleeve notes that says that Rog plays drums on FD. Possibly one of his best drum performances for years actually.
I agree with Sebastian - I Want To Break Free is not real drums on the studio version. Listening to Staying Power again however is seems that after a while, there are real drums coming in over the electronic stuff, they're not high in the mix but come in and out at various points very effectively to 'beef up' the sound

It's not a question if we like it or not. But I think that IWTBF has real drums basically. Not the best sound, especially for Mack, but real.

To me IWTBF sounds really like a drum computer (or something like that), all programmed.
For me saying that IWTBF has (basically) some real drums, is like saying that the drums from Radio Ga Ga isn't a drum computer, lol.

Well - we can't find anyone to confirm, can we?
Surely the question should be, why use anything but 'real' drums, when you have a drummer of RT's quality in your band? This is one thing I hated about 80s Queen.
Very good point Lord Fickle, I agree. Yes, some songs would lend themselves to a programmed track, but a lot of the time there could have been real drums played when there weren't

'Ride The Wild Wind' is completely programmed imo. Compare it with live versions.
'I Want It All' would be worth checking out with DTS tracks.[/QUOTE]
Where are live versions of Ride The Wild Wind?

Roger sung it live during his Happiness tour but not on the one for Electric Fire, I believe.
I thought some of the songs may have been electronically programed as they have that sound to them, but then again in the 80's it was quite popular to add an effect that eludes me for the moment, so i think it would have been quite possible to play in some cases.
I have question where Roger use electric drums (Simmons) Queen and solo songs?

I'm SO happy someone said that.
I fucking love RT, and he's the main reason I started drumming... like you said, with a drummer of his quality, why program stuff? Minimum, let Rog play it on electric drums or something if you want a different sound.
