In 2004 there was a Viagra commercial on TV. The depicted men (actors) who took the product were leaping in the air with great happiness. In the background was the song We Are The Champions. Perhaps if I were male and had ED and it was a solution, I would have been leaping in the air, too. However, at the time I thought that was the most mismatched commercial/music I had ever seen and thought, "Who sings that song, anyway?" I googled and that was that!
My brother came home one day with the 3-disc Greatest Hits set. I became obsessed and listened to only Queen for about 4 months.
I watched American Idol religiously.
They were on it.
I liked Another One Bites the Dust.
I found my mom's old Queen cassette and listened to Bohemian Rhapsody...and nearly had a musical orgasm. xD
I got Greatest Hits for Easter...the rest is history. :P

That's interesting, because the first non-children's song I recall hearing was We Will Rock You.

Well it all started about 2-3years ago. I was very obsessed with Greenday. Anyway i always watch kerrnag and scuzz because i love music and i use to see on the greatest videos and greatest front man if Billie joe armstronge was on it. But them most of the time the top 1 was freddie. Then my father put limewire onto the computer and was like "You like greenday ill get you a song" so he did and he got a greenday song covering we are the champions. I listened to it and then was like..Hmm queen??
Then i stole my fathers queen CD and played and though..WOW QUEEN.
So really its because of kerrang and my father. Very strange.

Yes - I'll admit that I was a very casual fan upto that point but I'll also admit that I was one of MANY who was turned on to the band from Wayne's World...
So - Easter Monday, 1992 - I go down to our local record shop and pick up what I 'thought' was Greatest Hits -- but it was actually 'Live Killers'. Nevertheless, I am in the car on the way home, and the radio station starts to broadcast the Tribute concert...
That was IT -- I went home and sat transfixed in front of the TV while MuchMusic had a 6-hour broadcast of the concert...with a LOT of commercials...haha!- I have no idea why I sat there, but there was something about the band there that I HAD to learn more about...and get more music from this band.
....and there you have it.
...for what it's worth.

The same for me except I was a year older. Are you from Canada?
