My family and I were in Greece and my older brother bought a fake Greatest Hits and my sister bought Greatest Hits 2 on cassettes. I eventually got both tapes from them.
Then I bought all the albums one by one on CD's and LP's...

I became a fan after I saw Wayne's World. Only kidding. I became a fan when I picked up a beat up News of the World LP at a yard sale for 50 cents back in the 80's. It skipped like crazy but it got me hooked and made me a fan for life.

We had just 1 (maybe 2) TV channel out here in India back in 1991, and my entire family used to sit and watch "The World This Week" - a weekly round up of news from around the world.
They showed footage of King Mercury from the Magic Tour (probably Wembley) and they said he had died of AIDS. I was 10 years old, understood very little English and had zero knowledge of western/rock music. But I remembered the name because they said this guy was of "Indian origin", and this was also the first time I had heard of the disease.
In 1993 my uncle came visiting from abroad and gifted me his collection - Boney M, ABBA, Michael Jackson. I still did not know anything about Queen but got some exposure of western music, eventhough what I was hearing was alreday outdated (did not know that at the time).
I started tuning in to FM radio stations and one of the those had a daily 1-hour western music show. I liked what I heard, and they also played Queen numbers like Ga Ga and Magic. They never forgot to mention Fred's name and his India connection :)and I really liked the numbers.
The late 90s saw the introduction of cable TV, and I had at my disposal an entire TV channel that played western music 24/7 - MTV. What MTV did was that it opened me up to a lot of contemporary western music, and I developd a liking for the harder stuff. They hardly played any classic videos, but I do remember being shocked once watching 4 men dressed in women's clothes and incredibly it was Queen again. I felt the need to hear more from this band but was not a fan or anything, not yet.
Come 2000, I got my first PC and guy who set it up for me also put a lot of mp3s, and that included WWRY, WATC(I had heard these before, but did not know that they were Queen numbers), IWTBF, TMLWKY. I realiased that I had liked every song of this band that I heard, and that was a first. I started working soon, so purchased some CDs (very difficult to get their material over here in Mumbai) and soon I was a hard-core fan.
There are very few Queen numbers that I find boring, and I like their lesser known numbers more than the popular ones. I prefer hard rock today, which causes me to drift to GnR, Led Zepp, but for me its still Queen on one side and all others on the other.

I remember i was in 4th grade when I first got into Queen..this boy in my class liked them so I got into them as well...turns out I fell more in love with Queen then him.;) One thing led to another and I eventually became obsessed buying their albums, tshirts, etc...Queen opened the doors of rock music for me.

Well, I was seven years old and I heard the song "You're my best Friend" playing on my Dad's stereo and became really fascinated and from that point on, there was no turning back! I have been a Queen fan for the past 13 years.. :) and I'm obsessed and forever will be!

I was about 16 and had just heard Killer Queen on the radio and I was hooked. That was in 1975. 32 years later and I'm still hooked.

We are the champions and We will rock you were the first two songs I heard of Queen in 1979 in Argentina were I'm from. It was at a party. I loved the songs. When I came back to the States I bought the Greatest Hits 1 LP. I heard Bohamian Rhapsody and fell in love wih the song. I did not followed the group any more, I guess is because here, in the states, they were not very famous.
Then five years ago I heard on the car radio We Are The Champions and felt very nostalgic. I went to my mother's house and digged out the album. Then started buying more CD, found Queenzone, learned a lot about Queen and Freddie and became fascinated with Queen and their music.
I feel so happy to have found them, their music means a lot to me. I just wish I went to one concert. If I stayed in Argentina till 1981 I may have gone to the concert in Buenos Aires, some of my friends went.

The first Queen song I heard was WWRY I was maybe 4 or 5, But I could never remember who sang it. My dad was always reminding me who it was. And of course they played Champions at superbowl 32 when the denver broncos won. Everyone in highschool knew Bohemian Rhapsody because of Wayne's World and It sort of escalated from there.
And last christmas he bought me Live at Wembley and I fell in love, I've been completely Queen crazy since.

I got to know the magnificent Queen not by a “special event” but for their absolutely amazing music, when a Mexican radio station I used to hear (which now does not exist anymore), played Bohemian Rhapsody and then Somebody to Love…Brathtaking!!...I was a teenagerthen, I got really impressed : the music, the chorus, everything was so unique…¡it still is! (at least for me).Then I wanted to know what they were saying so I studied English .I was at the Ignacio Zatragoza Stadium in Puebla and I could not believe my eyes, nor my ears for it was a fantastic show!!! .Eventually I became an English teacher. Now I am so delighted to see their music is still magical even for the new generations.
