Although I'm not so excited as I would be some 6, 10 years ago, I'm glad we're finally have official 1970s live concert! I was kinda hopeing they have the video from the missing three tracks, but the don't. I wanted to ask this: Is there a chance for some other complete video concert from the opera tour 75/76? I can't belive when they toured the states and especially Japan, the didn't record something in Japan in 1976!? (after haveing such big success with their first visit to Japan previous year!
That's the kind of question the "great exchange of information" a while back between fans and Greg Brooks was supposed to clear up. Sadly, but unsurprisingly, it turned out to be a one-way street.

It's been on the cards for a few years now, but what's stopped it coming out is the fact that the multi-track master tape for Now I'm Here was either damaged or missing. Obviously they've found it now or done some sort of work-around.
Expect it to be 16:9 version.
No multitrack recordings exists, as it was recorded by the BBC who record live straight to 2 track. 2 live mixes were done on the go - one for the TV feed and one for radio. And of course it won't be in widescreen?! I think they've learnt by now that you don't do go fucking around with aspect ratios of archive material, especially when such a process will amplify any limitations of the original footage!
Come on mate. QPL are a law unto themselves, and Brian has seen the Japanese widescreen abortion, er broadcast and he likes it, then who is to say what he won't do with HIS material !!!!
Well, multitrack masters or not. i heard a few years ago that Now I'm Here was missing hence it had been put on the back boiler.
Anyway, whatever the problem was, it's coming now and that's all that matters :)

I read some time ago last year that the video master had some damage(?) on "Now I'm Here", and that they were waiting out on a DVD release until they could locate the Japanese broadcast masters.
Anyways, question for Negative Creep: Have you even heard the 2005 radio broadcast and compared it to the original broadcast mix(es)?
I remember it was fixed up pretty well, and that would be hard to do that kind of work with only stereo masters to work with. At the moment, am looking for my copy of the 2005 broadcast FLAC's so I can re-listen to them...

I guess that wouldn't make much sense to wait for the "Now I'm Here" from Japanese masters since they have only the edited version :) I personally think that somebody has "donated" them an excellent looking broadcast copy, that's why they have now the full beginning now. If you check any of the BBC documentaries from last years where they use the intro, you will notice that the beginning is always only in "VHS quality".
The best thing about the 2005 mix is the drum sound, but it had some problems with the backing vocals as far as I remember.

I'm refering .to their actions and decisions over the years. Not to the actual persons.... I don't even know them so that would be misplaced. I'm sick of the whole QPR strategy and the actions from mr Brooks. What the fuck does he do the whole time? It seems they have nothing in their archives and asks if we can help..Let them invest a million or three in buying stuff from TV stations. QPR owns the rights so they can have a copy of all those tapes for free.
What do you get? Nothing... An incomplete list, (edited by mr. Beach I think) with some video and audio recordings we already know about right...

From Brian's site:
We will do our best to restore the whole thing as far as we can. The project will probably be in two stages .. assembly of part of the concert for a TV program, and then, probably a few months later, or so, a DVD of the whole show.
Cheers

From Brian's Site:
Hi Dr. May
I have collected Queen for 30 years. I have wrote on my web page www.queenonstage.com, about the possible filmed 2nd. encore. Normaly when they filmed at that time, they use a camera in the background which was not so mobile.
I thougt this might was the last one they packed up, and therfor still filmed. But, this has NEVER been confirmed. I have NEVER ever heard of, orr been told that anyone have such film part of the 2nd encor. I have contacted a lot of collectors true the years, withiut to get ANY possitive feedback that anyone have, or know someone who have this.
Only BBC is the people to answer this, if they answer at all. You might know this better than me.
But again, I have NEVER ever heard of anyone who have this 2nd encore on film. It's just a 'hope' we have had true the years.
Another thing I have found out. Some of the speak's between some of the track, included some 'christmas' talking from Freddie. This has been edited out on ALL the BBC broadcastings I have. This 'original' speak's from Freddie would have been nice to have included in the DVD.
1.) After Ogre Battle Freddie said "Right now Queen would like to drink a special Christmas toast to everybody here, all the viewers. So cheers! ". The version I have compiled has only "Right now Queen would like to drink a special toast to everybody here, cheers! ".
2.) Before Liar Freddie said "And now a special Christmas edition of a little number called Liar. ". My version has only
"And now, special edition , a little number called Liar! ".
Not a major thing, but...you know...blood fan is a blood fan....
I highly recommended you to release a cd with, or seperat with the DVD release, which has been done on all the latest live DVD's. But you know this...I just must tell... don't want more boot cd's of this....
I really look forward to the DVD and CD.
Best
Ernst Harald Larsen, Norway

Here we go..........
We'll get either of the following at most:
1 - A 60 minute TV documentary about the Queen show. This will then run down to 50 minutes devoted to the Queen show given 4 advert breaks of 5 minutes.
2 - A 90 minute documentary on the Hammersmith Odeon as a venue featuring concert footage from various bands and little Queen content.
Chances are that the DVD of the full Queen show will be pulled because of the missing encore footage and it will be included as a bonus disc to accompany the '79 show.
