Axl can sing in unique ways, but sometimes he does a horrible vocal. When he said "buddy" at the concert, it sounded like "muzzy"... so, I didn't like his vocals at the concert.

tough day for a lot of them...

sheer heart attack would suited Axl better ?

i think Benny hill would have been a good choice ;)

Well the problem for Axl is the one thing Freddie was quite possibly the best ever at was his middle voice, and thats the one thing Axl really hasn't got a great deal of IMO. Decent enough with the low notes, and obviously can nail the high notes but the middle range which Freddie did sing in is something I think he has always struggled with bar maybe the very early days.

If there was one song that I'd imaigne Axl would nail, its surely a song like Gimme the Prize, with its raw power even into the higher notes I'd reckon he'd do a decent job of it, but songs like WWRY seem to be the types he struggles more with.

Finally it should be noted they were in the middle of a monster world tour so Axl's vocals probably weren't as strong as they could be....and yes Axl was a huge queen fan, I'm not sure there are many others who have covered a part of sail away sweet sister afterall like he did in 92.

He truly was worthless.  The most you can say is that he was rasping, toneless, aimless, uninspired.  I won't even go into the more negative aspects.[/QUOTE]

agreed, but sadly he'll alway's have his followers.  A horrible singer for sure.

I don't agree at all. I am one of his followers, and proudly so,  and it is becauseI do regard him to be one of the greatest singers of all time. I can't really comment on the Freddie Mercury concert, since I've only seen bits and pieces, but the way he sings his own stuff is IMO extraordinary. His range, his unique pronunciation of certain words, his versatility, the emotion (such as rage) that he puts into his singing, his ability to dramatically speed up or to slow down and his tone all combine to make him IMO one of the greatest singers to have ever lived. I think he's an absolute freak.

Roger Taylor sure liked Axl's performance.  In fact, Roger said that Axl's performance, not George Michael's, gave him the most exhilaration on the day.

Personally, I thought Axl did fine.  He did what he does.

I agree with the earlier post that it was a tough day for the lot of them.

Yes, I do consider him to be one of the best singers ever. But why do you need to attack the taste of those who disagree with you? You may not agree with me, but it doesn't mean I have bad taste, or that you have good taste.

As for Skip, the problem with him is not that he likes Kiss, but that he has to resort to homophobia and abuse in order to justify his being a fan of them.

the sad part is that guy's like axle (No talent) get rich off of people like you.   People who follow these so called "cool bad ass" types and make them rich.

I'm not a fan of Axl's voice and personality. He squeels like a pig. I liked gnr's first albums, but I gave away my copies of Illusion 1&2 years ago.

I've been at the FM tribute concert (10th row from front). GNR's performance of their own 2 songs was really very good imo. I didn't like him singing WWRY and Boh Rhap. He looked and sounded very insecure about his lyrics. Axl's performance together with Elton John was a very big surprice because in that period Axl had a very anti-homosexuality attitude.
Their version of Knocking on heaven's door, recorded at the FM tribute, was released as a single and a big hit over here in Holland

Give me a break. Maybe I follow these guys like Axl, not because I think they are a 'cool bad ass' type but because I do think they have talent. You don't think he has talent, fine, but it's merely your opinion. Other people do have the right to have a different opinion. What I find sad is that you are so unwilling to acknowledge that other people have the right to an opposing opinion, you either attack their taste or you act as if your opinion is fact.

Since you're gay it's o.k. for you to listen to and like a homophobic lead singer.

Interesting.
