tcc wrote: What are you saying - please yes or please no ?  :-) ********* you don´t need to read between the lines ! my excitement says it all: PLEASE YES !!!  ;) Taylor Hawkins is not only a great musician, he really loves Queen and it´s obvious he´d love Brian and Roger to keep doing good stuff. My respects to Paul Rodgers, but TH could help much better Bri+Rog going one step forward, at least in terms of creativity .... and pleasing many Queen fans too. I remember reading an interview with Roger before TCR tour saying Taylor Hawkins suggested them doing some of the older stuff .... the same they did last night in London.  Maybe our guys (mainly Brian) have opened their eyes a little bit .... there´s still hope !! :D

I remember this too - and Brian also confirmed around that time that Taylor Hawkins was really tring to push them to do some more of the 'classic' older album tracks as well as the 'hits'.  It seems that something may be afoot if TH can put enoguh pressure on Brian (I don't think RT needs much persuading).

However Brian sums up his true feelings by saying on his soapbox that he would have been happy to just play Tie Your Mohter Down with Hawkins on vocals - safe and boring as usual.

Amazing that they did these tracks for a 'non Queen' crowd too, and presumably went down really well.

Fingers crossed and breathe held for the next instalment!!!

Yep, I went and it was brilliant (Taylor is really great too), the Queen bits were great, fab to hear the old stuff rather than the usuals.

Any questions, happy to answer - but there were loads of people filming on phones etc so should be on youtube etc soon; sound was a bit naff in some parts of the scala (boomy), so it would need to be from guys near the front to be clear.

I could only make it into London for one night due to work commitments. so here was my dilema, do I do the 10th May at the Dominion or do I do the Taylor Hawkins gig the next night on the 11th. I foolishly opted for the first.

Here was my thinking,  If I do the We Will Rock You Aniversary performance, you'll Definatly get "Bo Rhap" & Maybe "The Show Must Go On"  +  the cast singing queen songs.

If I did the Coattail Riders gig the next night, you'll most likely get Brian & Roger guesting on say one song.

How bloody wrong I was,  we got, Brian & Roger playing along to the last part of "Bo Rhap" Only!!!!!!!  & everyone else the next night got the guys Singing & Playing on several Queen tracks.  in the words of one Homer Simpson, Dohhh!!!!!

Live & Learn, Live & Learn.
Joyful the sound

That really sucks! I don't think anyone could have possibly anticipated the magnitude of Roger/Brian's involvement in the Taylor Hawkins' show (even Brian himself - did you see his soapbox today? Taylor is clearly a pretty persuasive guy!) I expected that they'd both show up but never in my wildest dreams did I expect what that audience got (which makes it all the more upsetting that I live in the U.S.!)

At least you made it to one of the shows! Look at it that way!

I can't believe this.
I saw Queen & Paul Rodgers 12 times all over Europe and it cost me a fortune and I never saw stuffl ike Long Away and Tenement Funster.

Little did I know that the only thing I had to do was go to London and sit through 2 hours of horrible Taylor Hawkins music so I could hear Brian and Roger sing and play Long Away, Sleeping on the Sidewalk and Tenement Funster to a crowd that isn't made up of Queenfans and would rather hear them play Tie your Mother Down and We Will Rock You.

Can't really add anything to Niek's posting, totally agree. I just hope that Taylor's plan Brian is referring to is a small tour where they play this type of stuff.

YES, a small tour... including America :).

I'd travel an awful lot to see Brian and Roger performing Tenement Funster, Long Away, Sleeping On The Sidewalk, Sail Away Sweet Sister, '39 plus other tracks. Heck, I drove 2500 kilometers in 2,5 days to see them perform a show I'd already seen 6 times so.... :D

Now, you're talkin'! ;-)  Of course, if this happens and it's only in Europe, I'll be traveling to see it.

Taylor Hawkin's music isn't horrible, Niek! ;-P  I totally get your point, though.
