Opera Omnia

Who has or has seen the 2nd pressing (white covers) in real life?

Does it exist, I have never seen it, is this a CDr version ?

My thinking is in those early days, for the band to have rehearsed up songs as tight as that they would've been playing it for a while, it must've had a trip out of the house at somepoint in whatever form. Alas, I guess we'll never hear it. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the record Fred's vocals overlap, which is something he would have a have time replicating on stage.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He did that for years on Death On Two legs, probably the best example of overlapping vocals.

An old Queen trading friend of mine, Mark Tretman, from LA, CA, told me years ago that at a California Queen show in the mid 70's, some guy was screaming for Fairy Feller's insistently, and finally, Freddie (and I think the rest of the band) launched into a quick impromptu version of it.  Mark was one of the pre-eminent Queen collectors back in the day and hung out backstage with Queen on at least a couple of occassions (I have photos of him with the band in Japan in '82, I believe), so I'll take him at his word.

A Queenfan from the US witnessed the SHA tour in 1975 and he told me the audience kept shouting for this particular song. An improvised, instrumental version followed. Lost contact with him years ago.

Whether this is true, I don't know. But why not?

They also rehearsed Funny How Love Is, so everything is possible.

Hi Rick -

Your story sounds exactly like the one I mentioned, directly above it..sounds like you were friends with Mark (c?) Tretman, as well?..or someone else who was at that show...

there´s romours about Queen playing Sleeping On the sidewalk, Dead On Time or even 39 with Brian on Vocals... but at the moment nothing was confirmed with a recording.

But there is a newspaper review of the Boston 11-12-77 show stating that Sleeping was performed.  So there is confirmation that it was performed at least once.

In answer to your question (years in the making): No, they never performed it live in front of an audience. They did however work up a simplified arrangement of the song which they actually did rehearse prior to the queen 2 tour but it never saw the stage. I remember reading this in a queen concert book years ago.

Depending on which Queen concert live book that was (ahem...) I'd take that with a pinch of salt!!

They performed TFFMS at least on one occasion and Sleeping was played quite a few times.

Don't be telling us which concert that was. The whole Queen Productions empire might collapse if you do.

I guess Gary has given the answrr to SOTS. However I would never rely on a newspaper review. I have been to gigs and then I have read the review full of glaring errors and downright lies (usually to make the review more interesting or to help along a big slag-off).
No Freddie, No John.....No Queen

Cheers Gary - were any of these performances recorded either audio or video by the band?
