Also, Donna ...
It's disgusting. Paul never tried to be like Freddie, he is a legend in his own right with his Free and Bad Company stuff and I liked the Cosmos Rocks. I would go to Sonisphere if he was singing but not with Lambert who just because he is a flamboyant fag does not make him a Freddie replacement. (Cue Homophobic rants). The hypocrisey of Brian and Roger Clebrity then they play with Lambert who is a talentless cunt and all they are doing is trying to be hip with the younger crowd. This is suicide, Rodgers is a proper rocker and would fit in well at sonisphere but Lambert will be bottled and it will be a disaster.

What I really dislike is all this Gospel treatment on whatever Brian and/or Roger say or do. They aren't gods (although Brian can speak for the deads!), and unfortunately some still think so. And if you dare to say these things are not holy and immaculate, you're doomed.
The excuse of "Brian claims he was flooded with positive feedback about the idea of working with Adam" doesn't work for me. Who would have the guts (because of this God-like status they have) to tell him that it can be not as good he's expecting (if he has any expectations at all)? Would he give up from the idea if a few influent people tell him it's a bad idea? No, because in the past it never happened, so let's get ready for Queen v. 5.0 (I've lost the count, actually).
To me it seems that Adam was chosen using a strange criteria: "let's see... who's the available gay singer that can sing these songs as close as possible technically to the records?"
As one could notice, in my posts about Adam I've never criticized him technically except for maybe the EMA performance which was a disaster, the same way some of the Freddie Tribute concert were, although some were the best rock performers - when doing their own stuff. See for example Metallica. Their rendition of SCC was brilliant. But would they sing... "I want to break free" as good as that? Hell, no.
Adam has the same "problem" as Paul: it doesn't fit and won't mix well with all the songs, and even if he does a brilliant song or two (which I doubt due to several reasons), the rest of it is what will be remembered, like what happened with Paul. He's a good singer? Maybe. Good enough for *this* job? Definitely no.

Donna,
But I am curious. What does a person who is not an Adam fan see that makes them believe Adam's image distracts from the music whereas Freddie's didn't?[/QUOTE]
If he looks anything like he did at the EMA awards it will distract. He looked like a cheap hooker.

I'm not an expert. Others here are experts and performing musicians and could better answer these questions about how Adam could improve his stage performance. As for the homophobia complaints, some of these comments could be brought to the attention of the people in charge here if you are worried about this. I guess if you click on the "Contact Us" link below that would work.

What kind improvement are you looking for?
I REMIND YOU, THE LAST PERSON TO PLAY THE PART OF THE ONE AND ONLY CATSUIT MAN, WAS AN OLD TWAT THAT LOOKED LIKE CHUCK NORRIS AND DRESSED LIKE A METALLURGICAL WORKER. AND MOVED LIKE MY DEAD GRANDFATHER
FUCKIN PAUL RODGERS
I HOPE HE DIES

One of Adam Lambert's pre-fame, pre-American Idol songs written and recorded by Adam and Monte Pittman (Madonna's guitarist) with Adam's rock band Citizen Vein.
Not very good sound quality, though.

Keep being retarded Jazzy Mercurois. You are the most infantile member of the board, you add nothing to sensible discussion, you should be proud.

I don't want to be mean spirited but when I saw this headline, this clip came to mind

I hope it works! >< sometimes my ipod gets it wrong...
I have a hunch a lot of these newbies (not all) are just Adam Lambert fans from other sites defending the Holy One
-_-
Lambert sucked I agree with Zebonka
He really could not give two shits what he's singing, as long as he's getting attention for his "style" and lame stage antics. A lot of artists today lack that connection and feeling that should come with music.
As long as they cause controversy and get people talking! Thats all that matters in mainstream -_- Hope Bri and Rog find a singer with feeling for the music
Or just retire

You're right about me. What gave it away, my screen name???We on "our" fan board would never disparage another singer the way most of you do and I can't help but defend "The Holy One." But you guys .... ugh. I know y'all are upset about Freddie being dead but so mean-spirited. How can you possibly know that Lambert doesn't give two shits what he's singing about when you don't follow him? Just ugh. If you don't like him, that's fine, but I just don't like people spouting off about things about which they know nothing.

To Jazzy: Regarding Adam improving his stage performance ... I guess the only way I can describe it from my point of view (the EMA MTV performance, which I watched a couple of times) is that to me he seemed almost afraid. It seemed awkward and I got nervous while watching it. So it was not enjoyable. I liked Adam's unplugged VH1 performance. He is a good pop performer. And he has enough charisma to connect to the audience on pop songs I think.
Anyway comparing the MTV Adam thing with the Tom Chaplin performance: I didn't get nervous watching the Tom Chaplin performance. It was beautiful and moving.

Can all you Lambert fans get over yourselves!?
Here on QZ we don't take shit seriously. Yeah some assholes ruin our usual tongue-in-cheek jokes. I'm not a frequent QZ poster but I've read the forums long enough to know how they work. We joke and poke fun at everyone and everything, especially Queen! We say ugh to those that can't take a joke.
If you want a serious music discussion, then here's my input
The reason the rest of us don't get this collaboration is because this really is a weird fit. Paul Rodgers was kooky enough. He was respectable, even with his Chuck Norrisness and all.
Go listen to Queen, Queen II, A Night at the Opera, and Sheer Heart Attack. Go watch Live at the Rainbow or even Wembley. Most likely you won't understand why we don't see how Lambert fits with Queen. We just don't see any feeling. All we want is a powerful singer with feeling. We get that Freddie's dead, we're not stupid.
I'm not trying to be some music snob. None of us are. We are what we are: Queen fans with humor, wit, and an opinion.
Just because you get all pissy about the rest of us not liking Lambert doesn't mean you can say we don't know what we're talking about.
If you'll excuse me, I will now proceed to tape my fingers, as I do not wish to upset Lambert's Army any further.

I've been listening to Adam's album. Love it. Broken Open is very pretty ... reminds me of that Chris Isaak song Wicked Game. There are plenty of catchy dance tunes.

Stone, yes, I CAN say that you don't know what you're talking about when it comes Adam. I'm sure you don't "follow" him and have you ever seen him perform live except for EMAs where they had literally one rehearsal or the AMAs which was his worst performance ever? To me, he pours heart and soul into every performance. I've been trying to figure out why queen fans say he is souless. I think it is because YOU havent made an emotional connection with adam the way you have with Freddie or maybe others. I know you can't reply because your fingers are taped and it is better that way :)

Adam Lambert might "wear a helmet" during his Sonisphere set with Queen
Adam Lambert has opened up about his forthcoming live set with Queen at Sonisphere Festival and insists he isn't afraid of the sometimes icy reception acts can be met with at rock and metal events in the UK.
Speaking exclusively to the NME, the 'Whataya Want From Me' powerhouse admits he was surprised to hear that bands in the past have been 'bottled' and joked that he might wear a "helmet" while on stage to be on the safe side:
"Oh great! Well I'll be sure to wear something that protects my head. I'll wear a helmet onstage, maybe that would be a good fashion statement."
He also stressed that he is in no way trying to replace the late Freddie Mercury and only wants to use his own stunning vocal abilities to emulate the stage presence and star power the 'We Will Rock You' legend possessed:
"The way I look at it is I’m not trying to imitate or outdo him or compete in any way, that’s not even in my mind at all, I think it's really an honour to be asked to sing the music that he and the band wrote and get up there and put on a good show. IF PEOPLE ARE TOO BUSY COMPARING, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE MUSIC. Addressing recent rumours that suggest Lambert will be joining the iconic rock band on a more permanent basis, he added: "One of the things [people have said] was, 'He's gonna be the permanent frontman of Queen'."
"Although that would be a beautiful experience, the tricky thing this year for me is I also have my album coming out, 'Trespassing', and that's gonna take a lot of work and time and energy. So it's really a one-off experience with the band, and I'm really excited for it. But I'm not joining the band and touring with them."
