Donna13 wrote: I've been listening to Adam's album. Love it. Broken Open is very pretty ... reminds me of that Chris Isaak song Wicked Game. There are plenty of catchy dance tunes.
The intro and chorus in Broken Open recall bits of the Gary Jules cover of Mad World more than Wicked Game for me, though I get the comparison you're making.  But I just can't...I mean Wicked Game is an exceptional song and Chris Issak wrung angst and desire and heartache out of every last note.  It's haunting and beautiful and consuming the way the best music is.  Lambert is better at the quieter material for sure, and he may hit a couple of sweet spots in Broken Open, but it's not even in the same league as Issak's song and performance, let alone in the ballpark. I've taken your 'reminds me that Chris Issak song' much farther perhaps than you intended, but it's the incongruity of the pronouncements and associations around Lambert that always disconcert me.  His career has thus far been a string of opportunities he's hasn't earned and gambles on him that often haven't paid off.  The latest iteration is apparently a leap from 2000 seat theatre venues full of adulatory fans to....Knebworth park.  Stepping into the shoes of...Freddie Mercury. It's completely bizarre.  But for the distorting lens of television and c-lebrity and media vacuums none of it would even be. Deserves to be heard just because:

Wicked Game is not the typical Chris Isaak song at all ... so where it came from who knows. I know he admired Roy Orbison and I can hear a little bit of Roy's tone in both Chris and Adam's voices on some songs. I think Adam may be more versatile than the average singer. He is fun.

Also, my two cents. Adam rarely performs this live as it doesn't translate on stage as well as some of his other ballads such as Soaked and Aftermath.

Broken Open... great track, and what a voice ! So maybe he'll do justice to the vast Queen catalogue.

Either way, I think people just need to take a step back and not judge this thing until it actually happens.

perhaps a guest bass player, just imagine it Freddie on the big screen and ladies and gentleman Mr John Deacon
And he rushes to the stage in all his glory wearing those 1986 short shorts with his "grandfather clock scrotum" dangling....

(as others have pointed out on the Wembley show)

.....ahhh.. lmao... just joking. (and bringing that old forum topic to light again)

Ahhhh my my.... if John wouldn't come out of retirement for Paul Rodgers *(and the "let's wing it and chase that MOR Rock American audience)

what makes you think John would come back for this? (in any other form than watching from the sidelines?)

i actually think.. if this were to tour... he'd show up one night to do Under Pressure.

THAT would be a headline
"Come tonight! Come see the Overbite! Come to Ogre Battle, FIGHT!"

Hope at the very least lambert has lost some weight for the gig and is going to be wearing better clothes than the EMA show. Id like him more if he stopped trying to be some "fashionista". Is he too afraid to try a Freddie special of tracksuit bottoms and t-shirt, regular hairstyle and trainers? Instead he goes with overdressed whore coats and hair.

Belfastqueenfan, Lose weight? I have personally met and hugged the boy. He is skin and bones!. Adam LOVES fashion. It's part of who he is. He also likes to help his friends. His gorgeous leather coats are designed and made for him by his friend who owns Skingraft, an LA design company. I love their stuff.

Whoops! My mistake. The EMA coat is by designer Gareth Pugh. Whore coat lol! I'm sure Mr. Pugh would be very happy to hear that! Another of Adams favorites. And remember Freddie wore that outfit over 20 years ago. #timewarp

Well if he was wearing something simple like Freddie did, he would be able to move around more freely thats also why I said lose weight although ill admitt I phrased that wrong. Not lose weight so much as work out and get in good shape for moving around and bringing a little Freddie charisma to the gig. I think people would actually like him more if he connected in that way.

Belfast, there's nothing I like better than discussing better than Adam F. Lambert. Have you SEEN him work the stage before? I don't think I've ever seen anyone move so freely. And that is an understatement. He doesn't want to overshadow Brian and Paul IMHO.

Belfastqueen,
You're RIGHT! When he wears sweats and a tee he moves much more freely!

I think he has plenty of charisma and moves around quite nicely :).

Lambert is not too bad, but really concern me that he can try to kiss Brian. Lambert is a such a pervert.

I have not doubt about his ability, but his attitude and immaturity worry me a lot.

There are probably some specifics in the contract: no touching Brian's hair, no slobbering on the Red Special. That sort of thing.

Adam's song Soaked (by Matthew Bellamy) would make a great James Bond theme ... I think.

To the people who likes adam: PLEASE stop making an Lambert's campaing let the rest of the world hit on him, he's no the real deal here, Queen gonna rock the stage , that´s the real deal, Lambert is just a guest singer, could be Lady Gaga or me , so stop talking about his greatness, I'm gonna hate him with all my soul for you people, seriously. I want to kill him now. And stop talking about stupid thing that no one cares about it, like his stupid outfit or awful hair, I hate him now. I'm apologize for my english.
