i met Freddie at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. he said that he wasn't ever really ill, and that he faked it all just to get away from Brian. He said brian got on his nerves and wasn't really a very good guitarist either in his opinion.
Yeah? Did he offer an opinion on how those guest performers were killing queen songs?
he respected most of them, felt bowie's "lord's prayer" was a little unnecessary, annie lennox over-egged the cake a little but he thought axl was a cock...which wasn't far wrong as things turned out

Oh, come on. Brenski's posts are humorous. No need for the "scum of the earth" comments!
I always knew I was a star And now, the rest of the world seems to agree with me-Freddie Mercury

"I was just wondering if what you said had any validity or if it was just an attempt at humor."

The old (bullshit) story about Elvis was that 'niggers are only good for buying my records and shining my shoes', which was of course nonsense. I saw someone jokingly attribute that same quote to Freddie once, and it's stuck.

I met Freddie on two occasions at video shoots. He seemed quite comfortable in front of many people, all dressed up playing a part on stage. Off stage he was very shy and usually surrounded by bodyguards and friends.
If I was part of the London gay scene in the '80's I would of met him at some club or other many times - unfortunately I lived many miles away.

I think Freddie wore gloves when shaking hands with someone or maybe I'm thinking of Louis Pasteur,

I'm never offended by people making jokes about Freddie. It's extremely rare I laugh at one, but I'm never personally offended.

However, I do get annoyed when people start threads in this forum in hope of a relatively serious discussion but instead they're inundated with people thinking they're comedians. Not just this thread but all over the board. I don't mind the occasional joke, but the streams of shite which people post thinking they're being funny...

Just stop. The board's becoming annoying to be a part of.

I believe that all that talk here, full of crap. Especially Gary Taylor and his story, of true, suggests. that he`s gay :-)
I've got the power to love to live I can't say it ain't right

The board became annoying to be a part of a long, long time ago, which is why some try to find the humour in repeated stupid questions, idiotic comments, homophobic opinions, etc. The forum could be a lot nastier than it is if we really said what we think about many of the trolls, spammers and pointy heads that infest it. Humour is a way of making the point without outright abuse.

So ... leave? I'm not saying that to be a prick, I've done it myself a couple of years ago. It was good to get some time out, it definitely changed my perspective on this very odd forum.

... and as if to prove my point, rocknrolllover has joined the discussion lol

The easy answer is for people to say 'leave', so you really like it like this? You like every thread to be turned into two or three people trying to outdo each other on how much we can make fun of the fact Freddie has died?

It's just a bit exhausting. It's not clever humour and only appeals to people...well, I'm not sure who it appeals to, but it can't be the majority.

I'm genuinely interested in finding out people's personal encounters with Freddie Mercury. You hear so much these days regarding how celebrities react with fans, and it just interested me that I'd never really heard many fan stories of meeting Freddie.

If you're annoyed at repeated questions then have a pinned topic with a list of FAQ's. Or if I want to turn it around...'leave?'

I've been a fan for 10 years so i'm not likely to ask 'Was Freddie really bisexual?' or 'Who is Death on Two Legs dedicated to?', but there's going to be a generation of Queen fans who are going to ask these questions, and just because you've been a fan longer, doesn't mean you can belittle the people who haven't been? What kind of a fan community is that?

i think Freddie would prefer my approach to that adopted by some of the prissy little c*nts arouns here who get all santimonious and offended at the slightest jokey comment.
don't believe me? here's a quote from freddie himself:

"I like to ridicule myself, I don't take myself too seriously. I wouldn't wear these clothes if I was serious. The one thing that keeps me going is that I laugh at myself"

bet you feel a bit f*cking silly now ridiculing me, when this is one of those occasions when i can say what i am doing is "what freddie would've wanted"...now kindly get off my case fuckwits

Are you Freddie Mercury? In which case carry on.

Note that in that quote he says how HE likes to ridicule himself. He doesn't take HIMSELF too seriously.

He doesn't say 'I don't care what other people say about me. If they want to make jokes about my death and my private life which I've specifically tried to maintain private all my life, on a forum where my fans can discuss my work, then that's absolutely fine!, my darling!'

So no, I'm not feeling fucking silly.

I'll state again what I said earlier, I'm never offended by any Freddie Mercury or Queen related jokes...I'm offended by the quality of them.
