think about it....most rational people who are not offended by the subject matter of a joke would not be offended by its quality (or lack of) - not finding a joke funny usually results in a state of indifference toward the joke and it's teller...

i could now pander to stereotypes and say that:
you're probably aged between 13 and 17 and the whole world is on your case, and no one understands you or how awful everything is and how the older generation have wrecked your world and your inheritance - and they will pay

Like I've said before, I'm not personally offended by what anybody says on this forum about Freddie Mercury. I get more annoyed that people try and start a serious discussion and certain idiots feel they have to fill every thread with crappy little jokes, which imo never go down well and just disrupt the thread. However, you can't argue whether Freddie Mercury would approve or disapprove of people taking the piss out of his death. It's an argument neither of us can win. [/b]

This forum like any other has a personality, and you're unlikely to be able to change it by decree. You might get some individual cooperation for your topics now that you've made your limited sense of humour known, but that's likely the best you'll do. I could see complaining about this if it seemed to interfere with serious answers, but you got several of those, including from the semi-official presence in GT. Hard to tell where it all will go now that you've really highjacked your own thread though. Lame.

One can only go by the most readily available sample group in making a judgement in this regard. I hear a lot more positive response on this forum than negative. I don't even know or care if you were complaining about my posts specifically, but there must be some part of your noggin that can appreciate the temerity of one poster (1) telling everyone else how it is or should be.

A reasonable person could pretty quickly sort out the actual answers from the non-sequiter ones with a minimum of fuss. Your sufferings are imaginary. Breathe easier.

I'm not saying people can't make jokes, that's fine. But people can surely see that if someone makes a thread on this board, too many of the posts will be people making jokes either taking the piss out of the user's question, or making a silly or 'taboo' joke.

I merely stated my opinion in hope of other people saying 'yeah, I agree'...although I imagine not everyone one the board has read this thread, it seems there's not enough to start a revolution.

I don't know how long you've been on this forum, but I've been here since 2004 and I know it a little better than most of the people who show up and complain. It is utterly ridiculous for you to be complaining because in 2 days (seriously?) you haven't had a raft of dream replies to your question.

Consider the odds involved. Take any Queen fan or associate who met Freddie and add 21 (or more) years to their age at the time that they had dealings with him. There's no guarantees about these people having an online presence or even knowing about this forum. Still, one can accept the probability that maybe a friend of a friend will know them and tell them about the thread. That being the case, you're not likely to get meaningful responses in that space of time. Since you're resigned to having to wait anyway (assuming you have even a modest amount of patience) then what the fuck does it matter if someone makes a clearly fictional response? Do you have problems differentiating the real world from something that's obviously made up, or something?

The little 'sigh' at the end of your post says it all. This thread is such a non-event, the posts you're worried about are so innocuous - if they really present a problem to you, then you need to re-evaluate your attitudes to online communication. I've taken part in dozens of 'serious' conversations on the site, and many daft ones. That's just how this site is. There's not some silent, suffering majority here that you can tap into. If they were the majority, then the character of the forum would be (by definition) completely different.

And I have to revisit this point one more time - two days? You really expect instant mobilisation of fans/people that met Freddie in that short space of time? Why should anyone take your opinions of the forum seriously when that's the most you're willing to give it in terms of 'benefit of the doubt'?

I'm not quite sure where you've got the impression that I'm impatient? I've not slagged off the amount of genuine replies. I didn't expect heaps and the genuine ones that have been posted have been very interesting. So I don't know why you've gone down that route.
