It was in reply to the numerous posts of crap. Correct me if I'm wrong but this part of the forum is for 'serious discussion'. I'm not some kind of comedy Scrooge, but it'snot just this thread either.

Basically, I try to start a serious thread, people infiltrate it with 'in my opinion' unfunny jokes, so much that on the first page there were only 3 replies that were not either 'attempts to be funny' or people responding/getting confused by the 'attempts at being funny'.

I don't understand how you think I'm in the wrong for getting annoyed. There's whole area's of the forum where you can post your Freddie death gags and your Brian May's a racist gags if you like, yet you choose to do it in the 'SERIOUS discussion' section. (it's on block capitals on the main page so i'm sure they want you to keep to that)

Now if it was more of rarity, of course I wouldn't jump up in arms about somebody trying to inject humour into a thread. But there's countless threads being clogged up with these kinda posts and they're just cluttering up the place.

i've been "cluttering up this place" for 8 years, and i've seen hundreds like you come and go when they find their next bit of shiny metal to flap around after in the breeze...

and although i have never contributed to a level of some of the more renown QZers, i have nonetheless contributed, my own photos and stories from queen gigs from 79-86, and also helped to identify bits and pieces down the years...so shut the fuck up having a go just cos i feel like adding a bit of humour once in a while. i honestly couldn't give a flying fuck what YOU think about my humour, water and ducks back spring to mind....pity you're so thin skinned that your thread not being taken seriosuly enough for you is such a heinous crime.

Firstly, they're clogging up the SERIOUS discussion board. Secondly, they're usually shitty jokes, some made purely because they're taboo 'Racism', 'Death', 'Aids' etc.

If they were witty/funny...then I wouldn't have as much of a problem. I'd still prefer for the majority of the topic to stay on topic, but i'd feel less inclined to try and tell people to stop it.

Yes. It was a pleasure. He was dressed impeccably and extremely quiet. He signed a couple of autographs for me. Hands were quite cold, but I think I put them back right. I'm the fire stoker at LightenUpDoucheBag Crematorium, and you don't get to see celebrities every day!

Fantastic stuff! Loving it! Slightly aggrieved there wasn't any homophobia, but apart from that, cracking comedy!

Sometimes I wonder if I'm on the wrong forum, because I'd actually find those two things infinitely less offensive on an intellectual level than the stuff that's being posted in the HIV thread over in Personal.

I mean - if someone can have a problem with this thread (like I said before, totally innocuous) but not be alarmed that there's someone on this forum insisting that HIV does not exist - then you (the OP, not Brenski) have wonky priorities.

It's not so much that we ought not to be annoyed by things (although that is definitely a waste of energy), but it's the amount of annoyance that we assign that's the big issue. It's like watching someone play The Price Is Right and get the order of the 5 items at the end horribly, horribly wrong.
