Montreal ... good ? Really ? I thought the only good release of Montreal is the Pioneer version from 2001
A few comparison pics :
WWRY: http://queen.musichall.cz/forum/upload/1194852840.jpg
QRM : http://queen.musichall.cz/forum/upload/1194852878.jpg
WWRY : http://queen.musichall.cz/forum/upload/1194852551.jpg
QRM : http://queen.musichall.cz/forum/upload/1194852492.jpg
But I must admit, that the SOUND of the QRM is much better than on WWRY
I have both copies on DVD and generally I prefer We Will Rock You. I have the NTSC version with DTS soundtrack (not sure if there were others) so I assume it plays at the correct speed and pitch given it is a film source.
I only bought Queen Rock Montreal and Live Aid for the Live Aid sections. I bought the PAL DVD of this sinc Live Aid was shot on PAL video so again hopefully the Live Aid sections are the correct speed and pitch. But it's hard to be 100% sure.
I must admit that I have seen QRM just once, and it took me almost a week, simply because it was almost physically painful to watch it with the f****d up (sorry, REMASTERED) picture, but if I remember correctly the PAL release had only the PITCH corrected, but not the SPEED (I didn't watch the DVD for many years now so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). The Live Aid disc seemed OK to me (PAL video transferred to PAL DVD - there is not really much you can make wrong :-) )

If you can't stand the picture of QRM Pittrek, just listen to the sound - its the best there is by far of the Queen live audio mixes

Some observations...

1) We have a cinema preview of the title in September, which probably means that Budapest is actually counted as two out of the three events in the September - November period.

2) We have 25 minutes of new material which is going to be documnetary material from 85-86 instead of concert footage.

3) Queen really needs a better creative team than the one who came up with the Hungarian Rhapsody -prefix.

Come on ! It could be called "Hungary Rocks" or "Queen Rock Hungary"
Remastered in high definition and 5.1 surround sound, this special cinema event includes 25 minutes of never-seen-before footage
And there we have it - the entire concert. This is very good news.

Can't see why it wouldn't be released on DVD.

How's that? So it's actually going to be the same incomplete version which was released on VHS in 1987, isn't it?

Bob, read it once more :

this special cinema event includes 25 minutes of never-seen-before footage, following the band from just after their legendary performance at Live Aid at Wembley in the United Kingdom, through the year leading up to the concert in Budapest

Personally I think we will get the full AUDIO, but the missing VIDEO bits will be replaced with random documentary shots from 85-86

It kinda sounds like Mafilm did not contribute anything new to this project. Everything visual may be sourced from their old 80's theatrical release. Same old cut concert, shame. Hope I'm wrong.

...And if you read it even more closely, it doesn't say anything about adding any audio either.

For all we know it's the same exact ridiculous cut of the movie, with 25 minutes of random backstage footage added as an introduction (and bonus footage of the blu-ray release). :/

Well... You do have a point there.

I do wonder what's wrong with calling it Live in Budapest like it was originally titled?

I only know what's writetn in that press release, and it says

"25 minutes of never-seen-before footage, following the band from just after their legendary performance at Live Aid at Wembley in the United Kingdom, through the year leading up to the concert in Budapest"

It says absolutely nothing about any new concert footage, which tells me there isn't any.

Actually, come to think it - you're probably right.

The wording implies that the 25 minutes of extra footage are from various points in 1986 leading up to the Budapest gig.

Still, it'll be interesting to see what's used and what's left out. I can't imagine them using the curtailed versions of Tie Your Mother Down and Crazy Little Thing Called Love again.
