Hopefully, we'll see it in 2074.

Don't know if this has already been posted on here, it's from the new QFC magazine article by Greg Brooks.
"As I write we are working on a new presentation of the 1974 Rainbow concerts - possibly a new edit of the November shows, distilling both into one and looking at the audio from the March concert and seeing what we can do with that as well as the limited video from that night too. We are searching like mad for more footage from that night, since every fan I know has only ever seen footage from two songs from the March 31 gig. We have some great ideas from this project and we're working carefully on the detail. I think it's fair to say that this project is aimed more at the fans than the general public...a long awaited Queen 1970's 'the band with long hair' show (AT LAST I hear you cry!). This is a really exciting prospect and something the Q Team has wanted to get its teeth into for decades!"

Yes, as stated by Greg, the band have been dying to release a 70s concert for decades - it's presumably just been the lack of demand from the fans that has held such a project back.....

it's interesting to me how long he will talk about what they are working on a Rainbow project

A Rainbow box with the two november shows edited into 1 single complete show AND the complete audio from the march Rainbow show would be MINDBLOWING!
I've got my fingers crossed for such a release.
If they then also release the 2 hammy's in a beautiful box... Wow, what a live catalogue then...:-)

Ahh, but which fans?
On my side of the pond, it's the first 6 albums that people remember most. A million people saw Queen in their prime and can't buy a DVD from that period. It's nice to hear this is finally going to change.
Milton Keynes and Wembley mean little to people in North America who played News Of The World until it wore out.

I think Queen Productions will be very surprised with the sales figures for seventies live projects....

Perhaps, but you really can't blame them for playing it safe. Freddie's mustached look, and all their most famous songs, are huge selling points for the general public, and none of those things are there in the Rainbow shows.

That didn't stop Pink Floyd from releasing Live At Pompeii or Genesis from doing the 69-75 boxed set...

You're both absolutely right of course.
Queen wasn't that adventurous ever since the 70's, and for the past fifteen years Brian and Roger have been playing it really safe... Other bands don't have the same problem, and they seem to be able to separate their current activities from the archive material.

And as soon as the Rainbow 74 DVD comes out, we can add Queen to that delightful bunch.
