Given that the best parts of the Q+AL shows were the parts where Adam Lambert wasn't interfering, you could probably make a strong case for Brian and Roger not needing him there at all.
I know! I watch Roger's performances on YouTube fairly frequently because his renditions of A Kind of Magic and Days of Our Lives are beautiful. Brian's also great, though a little weak. And then there's that video of the two of them doing I Was Born to Love You at Queen+PR, which is just magical.
These are the days of our lives They've flown in the swiftness of time.

Fan voted yes. But at least there was something to vote for.

#1. This was not a fan manipulated poll.
#2. You are all full of it.
#3. An artist with 1.7 million Twitter followers is not exactly fading into obscurity.
#4. This is the only funny comeback. Inane but funny. And I quote:
"Seriously, why does the National Association of the Deaf even bother giving out awards?"

I am delighted to hear this little bit of positive news. I was there in Hammersmith on the 12th, up in the balcony, and it was truly amazing.
Adam Lambert is going to be around for a long time, he has talent, great stage presence, and had a fantastic report with fans that knew very little about him.

Fuck the naysayers, most of whom did not bother their assess going to see the show, but still feel qualified to disparage it. More in 2013 please.

Bruce Springsteen is playing a stadium gig in my home town next year, and I can't wait for that, the first Stadium gig in Cork since Oasis in 1994, with that said if Queen + AL tour next year, I'll be selling my Springsteen ticket to fund
Seeing Queen + AL.

I am not into his solo work, nor am I a big fan of Adam, but I really respect him for all the hard yards he put in with Brian & Roger.

well, right at the end of the year, you grabbed the "most ridiculous comment" award. well done

on the basis of your comment, we should all be going to see Girls Aloud, the Saturdays and the Steps reunion tour...because unless we don't "get off our asses" and see them, then we cannot "feel qualified to disparage it" ????

what a load of rubbish, we have ears...the same ears that hear GA, saturdays, steps et al, also hear AL belting out his over-dramatised self-promoting faux-sincere souless expressions
and i for one (of many many many queen fans) - don't like it one bit.

all the best,
Qualified to disparage

If you think listening to a boot or watching a boot dvd gives you the full expereance of the show that is your opinion, and you are welcome to it. :)

Did you stand up on your chair singing for over 2 hours, and roaring approval betweeen each song while you listened to your boots? My arse you did. Were you hoarse the next day from screaming along with 5,000 other people?

Do you want to hear my opinion on Girls Aloud, the Saturdays and the Steps reunion tour?
Guess what, I do not have any opinion on them because I have not SEEN them live, I am not Qualified to comment.

Barstool politics, at best. I was there and I fucking loved it.

The people over at Gigwise are obviously misinformed idiots like me too?

The tour was a MAJOR success,  NOTHING you and you fellow troglodytes can do or say will change that.
Tough shit buddy, you missed out big time.

you're missing the point.

that being - it's about taste - forget the gig (being there vs dvd) i have done neither
it's about whether your ears like what they hear. and, as i pointed out like girls aloud, saturdays, steps and many others...AL is another "singing voice" i don't like - i don't get on with it, hate everything about his "sound". that is it.

another thing - having a different opinion does not make me any kind of "ite" - trog, ludd or otherwise
i don't live in a cave, and i don't have outdated musical tastes/opinions - you have NO fucking idea what music i like or have in my collection - which makes YOUR "troglodyte" comment ignorant

a final point - B'ham NEC 1979, MK Bowl 1982, Bham NEC 1984, Wembley 1986 and Knebworth 1986 - say's i did NOT miss out bigtime. i suggest that unless YOU saw queen live in their heyday with definitive - no pop-idol collab line-ups then it's YOU who missed out - gargantuan-time...

owned!!!

People who want more Q+AL seem to keep offering irrelevancies. There's a pattern here, I know it.

Forget the gig? You do realise this thread is about the gig and nothing else, the clue is in the title "Queen and Adam Lambert Best Live Gig "

"(being there vs dvd) i have done neither" And yet you are happy to broadcast your uninformed opinion as if it is fact.

It's nothing personal, but you have basically made my point for me. You did not bother to see any of the shows or even watch or listen to a boot, yet you are under the impression that your uninformed opinion some how counts for something, It doesn't.

YV went to a show, not sure which one, and I am not quoting her verbatim, but she said she felt alienated and did not really enjoy the show. I fully respect that opinion because she experienced it and is therefore qualified to comment on it.

What's up next for you? The birth of Jesus, The true facts, by Brenski, who passed a church one day in his car, therefor he is knows it all.

Take my dumb post of the year award and stick where the sun don't shine.

Wow, what a complete fucking scumbag you are, how could anyone feel joy to hear about Innocent people going about their daily life getting wiped out by murdering thugs.

Any chance you will pm me your home address? I would be happy to give Ryanair a tenner so we could have a face to face discussion on this.

You fucking coward. I hope you die screaming.

He won this poll even though there are a few of us who didn't even know about it to dedicate hours to voting. LOL" And the three year old "Werk for Adam" thread featured the Gigwise poll. http://www.adamofficial.com/fi-en/node/2219107 The evolving opening post on that thread makes completely clear how entrenched this behaviour is. There are goals. http://www.adamofficial.com/fi-en/node/973743 The prevailing culture in the obsessed and entitled Adam Lambert fan world makes these 'victories' hollow and utterly meaningless. Like his "number one" album that slunk off the charts in near record time when the fan buying frenzy collapsed in inevitable exhaustion.

why would ANYONE go to a gig if they don't like the singers' voice? - that's my fucking point - i don't like his voice...so i won't go to see him. you really are simple if you don't get that. on the basis of your argument - you can NEVER pass an opinion on somehting unless you went to a gig? bollocks. my opinion is that i hate his voice - SO I WILL NOT ATTEND that does not make me unqualified to comment - ON HIS VOICE....you are mental.
btw - you console yourself with your "plastic queen" gig...i saw the real bona-fide 24 carat gold version - five times matey...in their peak....before they became the sad cabaret act you laud so over-sincerely and disproportionately...methinks you're jealous that you never got to see the greatest live band live....all you got to see was a fucking queen tribute act - and it wasn't even in the top five of queen tributes. poor you

That's not the point you made at all.

"Queen + Adam lambert would only just scrape fourth place in a list only containing three gigs...including Steps and S-club-seven" WRONG

Best Live Act 2012, Gigwise readers poll. Despite your opinion of Al's voice.

Dude, I was 3 when Queen played in Newcastle in 1979, doubt I would have enjoyed it had I attended, I was into nursery rhymes at the time. I am no more jealous of you than I am of somebody who watched the moon landing live on TV in 1969, another momentous event I missed due to my lack of existence at the time.

Now, as I said previously in this thread "I am not into his solo work, nor am I a big fan of Adam, but I really respect him for all the hard yards he put in with Brian & Roger."

This thread is about the concerts, not Al's singing ability, or lack of.

The gigs were a roaring success, fine you don't like Al's voice, personally I don't give a shit how he sounds, I'm a Queen fan, I didn't go to see AL I went to see Brian & Rog play, maybe for the last time.

If they play in 2013 I'll gladly go again. The concerts were FUCKING brilliant.

This thread is about the concerts, If you want to discuss Al's singing ability I suggest you start a thread on said subject, I am certain you will have a avalanche of people who agree with you. I won't contribute though, because I have not examined his singing ability with the zeal of a forensic scientist, unlike others.

Ah, you have done your homework, Grasshopper. otherwise known as Grateful Fan). Well, if Glamberts "manipulated" the poll, they were probably at the show and thought it WAS the best live gig of 2012.

"fine you don't like Al's voice, personally I don't give a shit how he sounds"

For me, it's kind of important in that he gets more upfront stage time than the other two, and he isn't up to par.

I guess it's possible for some people to go to a show and simply filter out the stuff that displeases them - I could probably do it myself. But I don't see why I should have to. Brian and Roger ought to be able to rustle up some better singers than this guy.

"An artist with 1.7 million Twitter followers is not exactly fading into obscurity."

This reminded me of an article I read the other day about fake followers and it encouraged me to check on my own. Apparently, 58% of mine are 'Good', 38% are 'Inactive' and 9% are 'Fake'. I'm displeased by the last bit, mainly because I can't think of anyone who'd be willing to A) inflate the numbers illegitimately, but B) do such a woefully small job of it.

Still, as is rather impressive for a celebrity twitter, only 12% of Lambert's seem to be fake. That's only 216000. I'm impressed by the restraint of you people. 52% are inactive (probably busy voting in online polls) and the rest are 'Good'.

I would hope that the number of Twitter followers would be self-evident in its utter meaningless in any conversation about a singer. Ted Neeley has 982 followers, which (if I run some rather complex calculations) results in literally the only contest between Ted Neeley and Adam Lambert in which Lambert would come out on top.

"Fuck the naysayers"

I don't get this blatantly shallow outlook on life. When did I wake up in a world where people are only allowed to say positive things about crap? In case you haven't been paying attention, that's how the Grammys got to be what they're like today. Sometimes (like when Leona Lewis sang Whole Lotta Love) someone has to put their hand up and say, 'am I the only one hearing this shit??'. You might not like it, but you can't really deny people their say in these things - if I were in Adam's situation, I'd rather have honest and negative feedback than a bunch of teenage girls saying either 'he rawwwks' or a grumpy old fella saying 'I don't care what he sounds like, I'm just here for Roger'.

*shrug* I dunno. I just think it can all be done better. Feeling like a worn out record here, but as I've said time and again - Lambert wasn't even all that bad when he stopped fucking around and singing offkey. When he keeps his eye on the road, he's a serviceable singer. If they do work together again, I hope they tighten some of the screws.

My preference would be that they get someone else.
