Milton Keynes has rushes Ginja.

They missed a trick adding Magic Years to the latest Wembley reissue.

All great posts, thanks for that.
In sum: it's incredibly frustrating to be a Queen fan nowadays (well, actually, for a much longer period).
Let's be honest. The last really 'new' thing we have got from QP is the Milton Keynes 1982 concert. It was never available in full, until that very day back in, believe it or not, 2004. Almost ten years ago. Ten years! I don't buy this '70s Queen isn't interesting for the general public' bull merda. They were hot in the 70s as well. They scored tons of hits in those days. Okay, the only well-known song from Rainbow is Killer Queen, but still. I think it's time to introduce the general public to Queen at their very best: live in the 70s.
I think QP are underestimating how many Queen fans are dying to see this. Queen was/is one of the biggest bands on the planet, for Pete's sake.

I'm sure I've read on Brian's soapbox that there were no "ISO" machines running to record the individual camera feeds, they were stuck with the edit.
This is what Rhys Thomas has said about Earls Court:
"Earls Court exists but the sound needs a lot of work for a surround sound mix. Picture wise it's good, but only a mixing tape -ie. no rushes like Wembley for example."
They rarely even give us proper surround mix anyway, it's usually an upmix from stereo. And they didn't have any rushes for Budapest, Montreal or Milton Keynes, so neither of these is an excuse not to release it.
As many 70's concerts on the agenda as possible please!
Exactly - what's wrong with a great stereo mix? MK sound is dreadful (certainly the drums), and Wembley Friday audio is better than any of the numerous versions of the Saturday that we've had over the years

The biggest disappointment is that Rhys chap saying it's no good for 5.1 sound. So what?
The Rainbow show is just boring now, same with Hammersmith '75.
How is rainbow or hammersmith 75 boring?
How do you explain the alternate angles seen on the two versions of "Staying Power" on the GVH 2 DVD and the On Fire DVD then?

eagle rock may be remastering the first or maybe second night of earls court here is a comparsion of the original and eagle rock.

Hmm! Need more info, please
And then the convenient not so slick attempt at a U-turn:

I agree, so what if Earls Court can't be put in surround sound? Release it on CD in stereo? Why not?
I thought about making this a separate thread on here, but I'll just state this here because it seems appropriate. Have you read the comments concerning the ICON release? They are all blasting the release. It's pretty apparent if you read here that we all feel the same way. GT and others seem to respect the fans on here because they do drop in occasionally and even ask for information concerning research, etc. They aren't oblivious to the fact that Queen fans are tired of these releases.
It's just a shame that Queen Productions can't release anything of significance for the real fan-base. But, I guess from their perspective we should be happy that recent releases (in the past 2-3 years) includes Wembley Friday night, full Budapest, and the FM Barcelona album with a real orchestra.

>Sadly, I do honestly think the last good Queen DVDs I've ever bought were in Camden Market in about 1998.
Exactly what I was thinking; he made a decent amount of money from me!
QPL hasn't got the imagination to be able to think laterally - all they're concerned about it units and big units at that. They *FEAR* that if they were to release a concert film in stereo with no 5:1 option, then the product would be lambasted in the reviews sections of the music press. The fact is that no one actually cares whether its in 5:1 or stereo because the visuals of a film are so much more important than the listening experience.

Ironically, a huge portion of their "5.1" mixes is actually either quad surround (4.1) or up-mixed 5.1.

Yup - the ICON release is solely a money making exercise based on minimum effort for maximum gain - nothing more, nothing less. They can't argue that it's to 'get the music heard' cost that stuff already exists on countless compilations - at least the 'Deep Cuts' issues were a neat idea alongside the album reissues.
In reply to a recent letter on his Soapbox, when accused of being hypocritical. Brian has said:
"I can assure you I don't need any more fame, or money, or approbation. Why then, would the word 'hypocrite' be appropriate?'
My response to this is: "if you don't want to be called a hypocrite, don't come out saying you don't need any more money or fame, but then continue to keep churning out all the greatest hits and other compilations and reissues"!!!

Well I can only assume it's a creative issue, I would guess either Brian or Roger are not happy with how they come across, i suspect it's Brian. Ok so maybe the recording will not stretch to a surround mix as Rhys said, ok fine with that release what you have in the best possible state, just a good stereo will do me.

I'm not offering advice, I'm asking the question to GT
I am aware it's been asked before but i have never seen a reply from an official source.
There has to be a genuine reason, either a business case or creative issue, I don't understand why it's so difficult to answer? if it's a no it will never happen, fine, but why??
Sorry dude, I got it wrong. And yeah, many people have tried to ask it before but no proper answer has been given to date yet.
But hey, let's live in hope, huh?
I think there could be a few reasons why it might never happen, but knowing the people of this website I don't feel generally fine revealing these reasons because it may lead to some unforeseen consequences.
